What happened to the teacup outside of Mad Hatters? :(
I just read somewhere that the teacup outside of "Mad Hatters" in Fantasyland is gone?! In place of it is... grass. If it's gone for good it's a shame, it used to be such a cool little prop to take pictures in.
Does anyone know why they had to take it out?

I would think it was temporary, but by the way they installed new fencing, I bet it's gone for good.

The Teacup is gone for good. The fence is welded in place and the posts cemented in place.
Disney is removing many items, and installing "Safety Rails" on many attractions.
This was a real favorite photo spot, but TDA no longer cares... ($$$$)

They will put that fencing up when they take it out to re-paint it. Happened a couple years ago. I would suspect it will be back. They have to put that fence up or people will walk in that area.

Did it really cost that much to maintain that one teacup as a photo op? I hope it's not gone for good. Hopefully, it is only in refurb, and they fenced the grass to keep people off it for the time being. If not, I hope the Dumbo photo op doesn't disappear as well.

I mean, seriously, I would pay for the teacup (probably like what, 100 dollars a paint job?) to be repainted every few months just to keep it there.

There was a concrete curb that ran behind it. It looks like they removed that as well.
It could've been a number of reasons. I'm doubting safety had anything to do with it. It could be the fact that it was in the sun and exposed to the elements. It could've been the lack of "curb appeal".
It could be $100 in paint, but don't forget to factor in labor and something to move the thing back and forth.

Just thought a non-doom post should be reiterated.

What! That's my favorite ride...just my speed.
Could they be moving it to a new location with the Princess Fantasy Fair remodel going on? Not in the PFF, but around the new entry/transition areas being created?
Hopfully it's just getting a face lift. Any time they work on something, they need to put up walls or a railing in this case. Either that or someone sat on the edge of the cup, and fell back and hit their head on the curb behind the cup. (see photo below).

And does anyone else notice the handle of the ODV cart, on the left hand side of the photo from the Disney web site posted above? Let's hope the teacup was not switched for an ODV cart!

When it comes to safety, that's why ride vehicles near attractions exist.
It cleare up the loading and unloading areas because people can go outside to get a pictures or family/friends in ride vehicles . This keeps walking areas clear and the attractions moving at a consistent pace.
Re: What happened to the teacup outside of Mad Hatters? :(
I'm not saying that it was there for safety, I was saying that I doubt it was removed due to safety.

I don't think the photo-op ride vehicles were ever intended to stay beyond the 50th anniversary, were they? Be happy we got them this long!
Re: What happened to the teacup outside of Mad Hatters? :(
they need it as an extra ride vehicle for the real ride
