Interesting that I'm not the only person put off by the cheep goldtone accents added in 2005 which fight the scale of the structure (along with the chipmunk downspouts added years earlier). I sure wish they would go away, along with the pepto-pink and plastic-blue colors that changed at the same time. I definitely preferred the more realistic stone look. I'd really be glad if they would at least fix the large dent on the front right turret, which has been there since at least 2005, making it all look really fake. The wonder bra tent behind the castle is the biggest culprit in making it feel so small, as it destroys the perspectives down Main Street.

John Hench spoke of having plans being drawn up to enlarge Sleeping Beauty's castle, but DisCo. has always decided not to pursue them, wisely.

When I went to Paris and saw their DL, I was amazed at the hight of the castle there and the fantastic use of forced perpective just made it seem so large. As I pondered, I realized that our lil' castle is shrinking as the trees get bigger and fuller.

So IMO, fix the tree issue, keep the tiny castle, and refurb as needed.

To me, the only real issue w/ our castle is that it was copied for another park (somewhere in china I think - not sure and I am too lazy to look right now. Someone can post the answer). I really think ours should have been a one of a kind. bummer...

The thing is, it's not "her" castle--the name is "Sleeping Beauty Castle," no apostrophre s.

You wouldn't want to call the Tchaikovsky piece that forms the base of the movie's score to be called the "Aurora's Waltz" instead of the" Sleeping Beauty Waltz," would you?

    Hong Kong Disneyland.
Doctor: We're too exposed everywhere. And Amy can't move. And besides, that's not the plan.
    River: There's a plan?

They copied our castle for Hong Kong because it was the only one worth copying. It is perfect. Sure there are some minor blemishes as noted, but I should have looked so good at 57...

ORDDU: I remember reading that those awful gold railings were added because of a show that was supposed to have taken place on the castle balcony during the 50th anniversary. But the show never even took place after all was said and done! The railings were meant to be an extra safety caution. But when there was no need for them they should have come down. They just don't look right. It destroys the theming.

Removing the castle would be treason. I am cool with refurbishing. At least you can walk through our castle. I ran in a 1/2 marathon in Florida where we got to run through their castle but without the drawbridge and having to run down the side was not the same.

The size and architecture is perfect for Disneyland.

Though I wouldn't mind a new color scheme and a re-dedication to the princess it was originally intended for and named for (even if by mistake) on opening day.

This. I've always thought it was weird that Sleeping Beauty castle at Disneyland Paris actually looks like the castle from Sleeping Beauty, yet Sleeping Beauty castle at Disneyland looks nothing like it. It does look much more like the castle from Snow White, and should be named accordingly imo.

ORDDU: What? The castle at Disneyland Paris looks almost NOTHING like the castle in the animated version of Sleeping Beauty. If anything, Disneyland's castle looks more like the one in the animated film and even then only to a minor degree.

ORWEN: And since Snow White has a dark ride and a grotto with a wishing well, naming the castle after her, too, would be Snow White over-kill. Let another princess get some recongnition, too, for Pete's sake!!! The Snow White I know isn't that greedy.

I LOVE the original castle however I would love to see rebuilt to to the original style but a just a slight bit taller. The proportion to Main Street and the way the park has grown make it seem oddly out of place to me. I think they will rebuild it one day.

Why does everyone hate the pink? Wasn't the castle supposed to be pink all along according to the original concept art?
In the quest for quality, I have no problem with the characters footing the bill.
