Re: anyone ever see someone jump off ride to retrieve a lost item

Wow is it really worth it to do that kind of stuff? Never seen it (except on video), hope I don't see anyone doing it...

It's a great way to get banned from Disney Parks.

If you drop something just ask a CM when you unload and/or go to the lost and found, instead of being stupid.

That's so true. They WILL get the item back for you, if it's at all possible. There have been people here who have mentioned getting their lost items back in the mail weeks later, even!

And even if they can't...I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I can't believe people would be so silly as to risk their lives that way. And I hope that anyone who pulls such a stunt on purpose, like the guy who jumped off the Mark Twain, gets banned from the park. How much did he disrupt the day for everyone else, when they had to stop traffic on the river, get security to escort him out, etc.?

Once when I was riding the Disneyland RR, just as the train was about to leave the station, a bag I'd had on the seat next to me somehow slid through the opening at the bottom of the railing (we were in the front row). It landed on the platform. I called to the conductor and he was able to grab it and actually give it back to me before the train took off.

Okay, I will hate myself for saying this, but that video was cool to watch. Made my stomach churn every time they run through a working scene? Yes. Still cool nonetheless to see things a regular viewer from the vehicle could not? Heck yes.

I have conflicted feelings about that video.

Me too. As I looked up more info on these guys, I realized that they were trying to document the ride before it closed. I appreciate that, But man, they just went about it the wrong way.
Even tho they were wrong, I still don't put them in the same catagory as the idiot that lost his hat on the JP video, or the moron thrill seeker/show off who jumped off the MT and had friends waiting to film it at the canoes.

I do agree with this. I think that documenting the ride was well intentioned, and I know that a lot of us here would love to walk through some of the rides--I know that if someone ever gave me the chance to walk through the ballroom in the Haunted Mansion I'd jump at it.

I wonder if that's how those guys were able to film so much, ie, the CMs looked the other way and let them document since the ride was closing. It would seem as though they would have shown up on at least SOME security cameras, but they don't seem to have ever been asked to leave.

I hate when people do this for some cheap thrill. I guess they think it makes them "cool" or something. They're not some big hero, they're just idiots ruining everyone else's good time. The only time I get upset is when I hear of Security NOT kicking them out of the park. No more finger wagging, boot them immediately.

They have a bunch of videos up you can check out. You can see their "base camp" under one of the scenes and their hiding spots for when there were ride stops. It's crazy. There were no cameras or intrusion alarms in Horizons at all. In the early videos, you can see they're scared of getting caught. They look at the car number and then jump back in the same car prior to the end of the ride. By the end of the videos, you can see they realize nobody is paying any attention at all. They would enter, sneak around for about six hours, then just hop in a cab and exit.

Wow. And to think some people call me irresponsible because I sometimes come back "late" when using a Fastpass.

Here's their blog full of more videos, pictures, comics, and stories. Really interesting, if you ask me.

Re: anyone ever see someone jump off ride to retrieve a lost item

Neat post! While working at both fl and Cali parks i have seen guests do a lot of stupid things. I've seen people log jump on Splash not ending to well. Kids and adults getting fingers crushed who do not keep everything inside vehicle.
I've been lucky to have walked many rides while working at both places.
I can't believe those two guys at Horizon's, very stupid/brave souls. I do have to say I enjoy the video's they took, but am amazed that no cast member took any action in stopping their adventures. They must of gotten to know the C.M's or something.

anyways again good post for what NOT TO DO!

I think they are in the same category. It is just as dangerous and just as stupid. Now it's out on the Internet for all to see.

I don't understand how anyone can ride ToT without a seat belt. They actively check those and cannot start the ride without them fastened.
In regards to that Horizons video...who on earth let that happen? And what idiot would want to spend a whole month or days at a time inside that ride??
