Disneyland Animatronics - Who Needs to Shed Their Skin?

Disneyland's animatronics run the gamet on humanoid skins. The older ones feature "plastisol" which always looks too shiny to me with the color of Silly Putty. The necks always move with the head giving certain figures a turtle look. The newer ones (like Lincoln) are very realistic (from the distance seen by an audience) and the latest still-in-development skins by Disney Research are so realistic that they border on the Uncanny Valley.

Does anyone know the various kinds of Disney animatronic skins used through the years, their formulations, limitations and maintenance requirements?

Interesting! I always thought that the figures in Pirates need to have a consistent look. Either re-do the old ones with the latest skin, or effect that "silly putty" look to the new ones!

Agreed. I don't care whether or not he belongs in the attraction but you have to admit Captain Jack Sparrow looks amazingly when compared to the other pirates. Sure, some still hold up a candle to him like the Auctioneer, but it would be nice to see a small upgrade in the other animatronics. Then again, that would be an expensive feat, so I don't expect that happening any time soon.
