This is a common misinterpretation. Actually, the Mayan calendar maker was taking a smoke break when he was accidently killed by Han & Leia's son who was driving a speeder way too fast, trying to impress some Aztec chick (or was she Olmec?), as will be revealed in Episode 7

    Re: Disney to Acquire LucasFilm

$4 Billion seems cheap when compared with the price of Marvel that has virtually nothing except for comics. Why didn't it go for at least $10 Billion?

Now, Star Wars and Indy are Disney properties. In retrospect, this is Disney's long game. It is time for Disney to create Star Wars Land. Long overdue.

The possibilities for Tomorrowland is unlimited at this point.

Possible. But also makes sense that he is creatively stagnant or burned out and just not as interested in doing anything going forward with the franchise. I think he wants to cash out and let someone he thinks is capable of doing a good job of going forward.

If Lucas is ill, he just needs to be frozen in carbonite until the cure is found.

For $4 billion, I don't think he'll care what happens. For $1 billion, maybe he'd care.

Different kind of announcement. Unless Disney announces Star Wars Land on Thursday as well.

Lucas has been creatively stagnant for 15 years.

ILM doesn't exist anymore. That was Kerner Optical Research. Lucas Digital has taken any and all work from the old analog business.

    Re: Disney to Acquire LucasFilm

4 billion is a really great deal not only does it include the star wars franchise it also includes Indiana Jones ,Lucasfilm Ltd., LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic, and Skywalker Sound. This money will be made back very quickly.
From a theme park stand point they now have properties that they can expand in florida since they do not own the marvel rights in florida. Also keep in mind whats been happening lately with Avatar rumors of a a lot of disagreement between the imagineers and James Cameron. If avatar fails , Disney could easily spot star wars attractions in Disney Hollywood studios.. Its a win win. Disney has shown it can handle franchise properties from pixar and marvel well and allow them to flourish no reason to think otherwise with Lucasfilms.

The good news is Disney can't ruin the Star Wars brand anymore than Lucas already did.
