Re: OK, Earl of Sandwich is now OPEN....

lol wow - some people need to relax a little in here. The food is good, and it is a new place. It will take a bit to get into the swing of things for the workers, cheat sheet or not. And food pictures by the compny will always look better than the real thing (think Jack In The Box tacos). So if yo find yourself a bit uppity in this thread.. take a deep breath and go visit Disneyland It not like we are talking about strollers here haha.

There are so many great sandwich places where I live (Ike's Sandwiches in San Francisco is just amazing,) I'm interested to see how this place compares.

The major reason for the "extended" learning curve is the lack of other EOS near by. There is no one from another store that transfered to this one, or at least not enough of them. It now falls all on the training team that either came in via corporate or trained themselves using a franchise kit - and they are obviously not prep'd for modern customers and the number of customers due to the hype.

The Palms Casino location never had this issue during a soft opening/opening week(s).

So if I were to go to an upscale restaurant with a fancy sandwich menu -- I don't know let's say Charlie Palmer's over at Bloomingdale's in South Coast Plaza I should expect a sandwich to look worse than what they show in their picture. Trust me in a restaurant of that caliber if a sandwich was served looking that horribly different from the picture the chef would get fired in an instant.

The amazing things are that the business uses its paying customers as guinea pigs while the staff is trained; and that, as with all things Disney, its customers so vigorously defend it.

Really, how much is there of a "swing of things" to get into for making a simple sandwich? Again, I made sandwiches at a very busy place on campus while I was in undergrad. There is not much to it. Anymore than 5 minutes per meal is ridiculous.

I would rather not, that's gross. However if that is what these sandwiches can be compared to, I think I'll skip it.

Hopefully they will have adequate stroller parking.

Re: OK, Earl of Sandwich is now OPEN....

I'm beginning to wonder about how people are perceiving the timeline here. If we're talking 25 minutes from the time you get in the back of the line, until you get seated with your food, that might be reasonable if there's a long line of hungry patrons. If we're talking 25 minutes between the time you place your order with the cashier to the time you pick up your food, no, that's not reasonable, that's excessive, even in a high traffic location, even in a brand new store with a total newbie staff (unless they're all under the influence of sizzurp & kush).

But hey, what do I know, I've only worked years in fast food before, in high traffic areas (including South Coast Plaza), both as a cashier and in the kitchen, so what could I possibly know about what a reasonable turnaround time for making a commercially-sold sandwich might be?

My timing was from getting in line to the first register. Then another 3-4 minutes to get to the payment register.

Sidebar, went again on Saturday night, and the line was easily 1 1/2 hours long. I opted to not go again until it dies down a bit.
