The simulators and the software were all upgraded when the ride was redone. The actual simulators are still there, but they have more movement and fluidity.
As far as the technology being from the 80's, flight simulators with motion, visuals, and sound have been around since the 50's.
Ok haha I didn't mean for this to be complicated...maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that the EMV's implemented for Indy and the roving simulators used on Spider-Man/Transformers, as well as the Kuka robotic arm used for Harry Potter, are all much more technologically advanced than what Star Tours uses. That's all I meant. And for a franchise focused so much on cool technology, it seems surprising that this is the case. That's literally all I meant lol.
Anyway, yeah I'd rather have the Indy we have now...
