Fun Facts of Disneyland's Space Mountain
Why would that be a helipad when the actual Helipad is less than 100 meters away by the tram stops.
Classify this one as a great Disneyland myth.
Technically, there is enough space to land a helicopter there, but, while I'm not a helicopter pilot so I don't know for sure, I doubt that is enough space to SAFELY land a helicopter there.
But I'm pretty sure it IS an alien landing port, however, you didn't hear it from me.
i will repost , with bigger picture.,
see the cirlce with lines??? that is the helipad...
so myth is true there is a helipad on top of space mountain, that empty area that is what it is

That area was painted with the landing pad as part of the 2005 refresh to try to disguise the fact is is just an open area. I don't know why anyone would put an actual helipad there as it isn't exactly convenient to reach in an emergency.

Interesting view from above, Poisoned. And yep, that area used to be open, and you could look down to the level below. I worked Space back in the early 80s and also Magic Journeys when it came over to Anaheim and showed on the Space Mountain stage. I liked it the way it was. Okay....there I go again....the way it was.... Sorry.
I've been up there way too many times to count, and I don't believe that area is large enough for a medi helicopter and its rotor span.

I always figured that the markings there were a tribute to the original pre 1967 Tomorrowland 'Flight Circle' which was located there. I can't figure how to insert links using my phone but you can find pics of the area over at Daveland.
