Carthay Circle Dinner and Xmas Decorations

    Greetings MiceChat

I finally made it to Carthay Circle for the first time this past Friday. I went with my boy and our Duffy the Disney Bear

My reservation time was 7:50 pm and I arrived there to check in at 7:30. I waited in the very fine lounge. I loved all the old photos of Walt Disney and his wife. It was like stepping back in time looking at those photos.

(my camera battery died just a few pictures in so I was stuck with my cell phone to take pictures so sorry the quality isn't the best, believe me it hurts me more to admit this than it does you having to look at the quality of the pics)

    Inside the Lounge:

Does Duffy want a before dinner drink?

    Naw...he's hungry

Here's where it got a little bit annoying. I arrived around 20 minutes before my reservation time of 7:50. We were sitting in the lounge and I was walking around and taking in all the great photos on display that I suddenly realized that we had been waiting for a long time. I had to go back up and ask them how much longer because it was almost 15 minutes past my reservation time and I had seen others who walked in after me...get taken up before me but I just thought they had reservations times before mine but there were alot of people. No biggie really just didn't expect that. After another 5 more minutes waiting we were escorted up the stairs, at 8:10, 20 minutes past my reservation time...ah well..

Some photos on the way to the table.

We were sitting at a small table for two but this table was just half a foot away from the next table. We might as well have been sharing our meal with the couple next to us it was that close.

Rose Petal Soda: This actually tastes like a Rose if I knew what a Rose tasted like. I would think it tastes almost like it smells. Hard to explain. It also had inside it a sugar coated dried Rose Petal...which actually tasted good to.

I ordered the Rib Raviolis. It was VERY good.

    Duffy almost stole my Raviolis!

My boy had the kids Beef Filet with Macaroni Balls. He didn't like the macaroni balls but ate that beef pretty quickly. And that is a good thing because it looked like Duffy was eyeing that beef as he was my ravioli's!

My kid had the Push Pop caramel rasberry ice cream. It just looked like a regular push pop but parfait style..no picture, sorry, my kid devoured it before I could get a picture.

Overall, it was really a nice experience. Our server offered WOC tickets, however, we were done 10 minutes past the start of WOC so we didn't even get to use them. In fact I thought it was bizarre she would offer them after the time to show up had passed. The service was good and the food was really great. It was a small dining area but it was workable. I would eat there again when the budget allows because between myself and my 8 year old the whole thing cost $70.

After dinner we stopped by Carsland. The Christmas decorations are tons of fun

Then we stopped by the Animation Building. Duffy wanted to know which character we was most like

It was a nice evening visit. Carthay was pretty good aside from a few negatives such as the wait time despite arriving before reservation time and the lack of dining space in the dining room. But overall, it was nice. So I've tried it...and I can say that I did.

Nice pictures. Carthay is a great restaurant for adults, but my kids weren't too crazy about the food there, either. It is a beautiful location, and I felt just like I was stepping back in time.

My kid actually liked everything except the Macaroni balls that came with the beef filet. He ate that beef so fast I shouldn't have blinked! He loved the pomegrante lemonade he got to.

The mac and cheese balls were pretty good. I ate them for him. He ate that beef up pretty quick though and he had already had like 3 of the House Bisquits so his tum-tums was getting full by the time the beef was done.

The lounge was super nice. LOTS of space for sitting and lots of room. I noticed there was a huge table in a side room on its own for a big party wanting to sit in the lounge. If I didn't have the boy every time I went to DCA I would sit in there and just drink away.

Good report glad to hear a good review I think I might want to go and eat dessert on the balcony.

    It's a music Celebration
Come on, come on, come on
    Strike up the band,
Feel the beat, what a great sensation
Come on, come on, come on
    Move and clap your hands,
    Get into the Spirit
    Let everyone hear it,
    So come on, come on

Ha! No, it was ok. I never like paying that much money for 1 adult and 1 child to eat BUT I was prepared for the price and did budget for it as I will the next time I want to go. What I hate is spending money...but that is a part of life.

I actually enjoyed the meal honestly because my kid was forced to act good. He even commented "everyone is so PROPER here" when our waiter took his napkin and placed it on his lap. My kid was impressed

Sounds wonderful, I can't wait to go next month. I do have a question about the Rose Petal Soda. You seemed to really like it. Can you tell me if it had soda water in it? And you mentioned the sugar rose petal, was the drink too sweet? I drink diet coke and plain iced tea so I was just wondering if this drink would be too sweet for me. I am really interested in that.

Also, do you happen to have pictures of the menu? If so, I would love to see them.

Finally, I think I may have to take my Duffy to Disneyland. I enjoyed seeing all of your Duffy pictures.

The Rose Petal Soda did have soda water in it. It was basically soda water that tasted like a rose. I noticed that it tasted like a rose more than that it was to sweet.

I didn't get any pictures of the menu, sorry.

Duffys love Disneyland and CM's love Duffys!

I got my intial 'Duffy' about 10 years ago. At that time it was being sold as 'my first disney bear' and I had to have it because I collect Disney, and I collect Teddy Bears. I wonder if he would fit in the clothes? I have a Christmas Duffy but his clothes don't come off.

Thanks for the info on the Rose Petal Soda - I am definitely going to try it out. I have never tasted a rose before but have heard they are good.
