Christmas Parade for exclusive party guests only?

I have strong issues with Disney planning to only do the holiday parade for people who pay for special after hours ticketed events. The park has been doing Christmas parades since the 1950's. This is a special tradition that people who go to the park in December expect to see. Many plan there trip specifically for this time of year because of this parade. I know my family always did. Many people are going to show up in December only to see Soundsational next year, and be very very upset. Not that Soundsational isn't a great parade, but again, people who have been going to the park as an annual tradition for decades and decades are going to be very very upset to see a non-Christmas parade coming down Main Street. Disney is opening up the flood gates for a lot of angry guests.

I have no issue with Disney holding special parties during the holidays - But I think the focus should be on EXTRAS - not taking away stuff from the regular daytime guests. It is almost as though they are holding the parade hostage, and you will never see your little precious parade again unless you shell out 100.00 clams. (Getting very film noir here)

I think they could just plan to do the holiday fireworks for party guests only (it is a more recent offering, and guest do not expect it as much) And continue the parade for day guests. Between the fireworks and Candlelight processional, that is enough to get people to attend the special events. They don't have to take the parade away from day guests. It is not necessary, and is just plain scrooge-like behavior.

The Christmas special event and been rumored for several years now and I hope it stay that, just a rumor. I'm not looking forward to paying extra for something that I have enjoyed the past three years that have included with admission.

If they are going to go down the road of separately ticketed events for the holiday parties (which has still not been confirmed, and is only an internet rumor at this point) then the parade should be only for those paying to get in to the party. If I am shelling out $46 dollars for a special party ticket like I did for Halloween, I would want things reserved just for the party.

What if the fireworks and Candlelight Processional are exclusive? Why does it also have to include the parade?

You know they charge extra for these special events but when they fill the park almost as full as it normally would be it doesn't feel quite so special to me. Personally I would rather they just do away with them, having to pay extra for additonal effects just seems a tad bit greedy. Disney should change the motto from Where Dreams Come True, to Where Dreams Come True for the Right Price.

Our beloved Walt's speech (paraphrased), updated for today's Disney mgmt attitude:

"To all who come to this happy place, welcome! Disneyland is YOUR land......as long as you're willing to pay extra for the full experience. Otherwise, here's the half-a$$ed version. We're saving the best for the 'special' guests who pony up the big bucks."

We all know disney is greedy like every other company, but this does seem to go a little too far. Christmas is really special to a lot of people. Add that to the fact that Xmas is about being the opposite of greedy, I could imagine a backlash against private parties for this holiday in particular.

But at the same time these parties are an affordable option to regular day tickets so...it goes a bit both ways.
In the quest for quality, I have no problem with the characters footing the bill.

Unfortunately it's GOING to happen. These have been the years of Disney throwing away 50+ Year old traditions.

This is so true. I remember the Halloween party last year was a little crowded and disorganized. I even did the survey and was the first time I complained. This year I had friends go one night and I passed and heard that it was just as crowded as a normal day in the park.

I find it interesting when anyone here mentions anything that could be construed as "elitist" or "for rich people" that people get all up in arms, but Club 33 is so highly revered and something to attain.

I have no problem with either one.

Nope, it's being talked about lots at TDA. It's just a matter of them deciding to pull the trigger or not.
