Re: Rides you used to avoid, but now always like to do

As a 5-year-old I was terrified of the Rocket Jets. They were so high off the ground it felt like I was going to fall out and to my death. As an adult I still avoid that ride, but mostly because it's just not interesting anymore. ( Something to do with being on the ground? Maybe that it's just a kiddie ride that spins in circles? If I want an experience that goes endlessly in circles I'll simply ask someone at work to find a conclusive answer to an issue. )

I never went on the old timey rides, either. The horsedrawn streetcars, old 1903 type cars, etc. Now that I've spent time refurbing a few old cars I have more respect for these old things and enjoy a ride in them now and again.

As a kid I can remember keeping my eyes closed and my hands over my ears on Haunted Mansion. Now it's one of my favorite rides. I can't believe how scared I was when I was younger!

    The Enchanted Tiki Room
I used to hate the show, and the song(s), and the hideous cast costumes. But now that I have kids, my 2 year daughter loves it, and I've gained an appreciation for it.

I remember I much I hated it when that tack song got stuck in my head. Now I'm know every verse by heart, and sing with pride.

All of them, LOL. When I was little I was scared of everything except Small World. Much has changed since then.

But really, I would have to say Splash Mountain. I HATED the drop for the longest time and usually refused to go on it just because of that, even though I enjoyed the show scenes. About 10 years ago I decided to just work through it, and now the drop doesn't bother me anymore. However, there are still times I avoid the ride just because I don't feel like getting wet.

I have avoided the Tea Cups because of their motion sickness tendencies. But my daughter wanted to go on the Cups. So, I did and have been getting on them since. I don't let her touch the center wheel though.

This made me laugh so hard. I share your sympathies.

I avoided "It's Tough to be a Bug" for years because I thought it was a "kiddie" thing (not that I avoid ALL the kiddo rides... you know what I mean), but I went on our last trip a couple of weeks ago and thought it was great!

    Haunted Mansion, definitely.

Mark Twain, the infinity mirror effect on the second floor is great.

Tom Sawyer Island/Pirate's Lair, the caves have fun displays -- disappearing pirate gold, incarcerated pirate animatronics, Davey Jones's heart, etc. (I'm in a minority for enjoying the pirate improvements?)

Tomorrowland bands. Fantasmic. Fireworks from in front of the Toontown gate.

First ride I ever went on in DL was Space Mountain. I was just a kid so it left me scared of that ride for a while. Now, I love it. Same with Tower of Terror. I used to be terrified of going on it, now it's my favourite ride on the planet.

I used to just focus on thrill rides when I was younger.

For a couple years now I find riding on the Mark Twain really enjoyable. As well as the Fantasyland rides. Actually had my first ride that I can remember on the Casey Train during my August visit.

I always avoided the Storybook Canal Boats because it seemed like it was just for kids, but I rode for the first time in March and really enjoyed myself.
I wish Frozen would have never been made.

Mark Twain for me. It's just so peaceful at night. Now I know what I've been missing.

Too bad it's usually closed at night for Fantasmic.

Peter Pan's Flight, for me. I honestly wasn't impressed when I first rode it and couldn't understand the long lines. It grew on me, and now I try to ride it whenever I can.
