Rides you used to avoid, but now always like to do

This thread is a counterpoint to another thread: Rides you used to like, but now avoid for some reason.

For me, one was Star Tours. I was just so scared of it when I first went on 1989 (I was four years old) that for years thereafter, I absolutely refused to go on it whenever we went to Disneyland. But when we went again in 1995, my parents coaxed me into going on again, and I wasn't scared anymore. I've been going on with no problem ever since.

Another ride I once disliked was Splash Mountain, mainly because of the huge drop. Again, I refused to go on the following year. But then after that, I started going on again, and now, it's become one of my most favorites in the park. Go figure.

So what are some attractions that you used to avoid but now enjoy?
    My top favorite Disneyland attractions:

    1. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
    2. Pirates of the Caribbean
    3. Splash Mountain
    4. Mad Tea Party
    5. Peter Pan's Flight
    6. Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin

Oddly, the Storybook Land Canal Boats. I would see them, see the line, and wonder, "why are people willing to wait for that???" Finally, at my wife's urging (she had never been on them), we took a ride. Now, every time we come back, we are on the boats. The miniatures are just so wonderfully done. I wish the ride were even slower.

    Indiana Jones Adventure.
    Fear of the unknown.

They are afraid of new ideas.

They are loaded with prejudices, not based upon any reality, but based onÖ if something is new, I reject it immediately because itís frightening to me. What they do instead is just stay with the familiar.
You know, to me, the most beautiful things in all the universe, are the most mysterious.

When I was real little, I was afraid to go on Haunted Mansion, and now it's my favorite attraction in the park.

I also didn't see the attraction of the canoes, but it's also one of my faves.

Splash because of the drop, and Big Thunder were ones that I'd avoid. Also a lot of times I'd walk by Fantasmic and Tomorrowland Terrace and wonder why people would do those. Now, I love Fantasmic and a lot of times I'll sneak over to Fantasmic just to see the dragon, between sets of bands at TLT. *lol*

Main Street Vehicles and the various Rivers Of America transportation. My family always skipped Main Street and most of Frontierland.

I used to avoid most things on Main Street because I always thought it was just shopping, but I really like walking around Main Street now. There are a lot of fun little things to enjoy.

I would now say Snow White's Scary Adventures, too. I rode it again earlier this year for the first time in a while and really enjoyed it.

Indiana Jones. I first went on it only because I was promised a Disneyland Barbie. After getting said Barbie, I did not go on it again for at least five more years. Now it's a must-ride, mostly because I got over my phase of "believing everything in Disneyland is real" (my dad looked into the eyes, and that was not cool with 7-year-old me).

Toy Story Midway Mania & Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. I always thought "why do I want to ride through a video game?". When we were there in Sept someone in the EMH line told us how fun it was, so we tried it. My DH & I really had fun playing against each other & rode them more than once. Also, Storybook Canal Boats. Once I was grown & before I had kids I always felt 'meh' about them. I rediscovered how charming that ride is when my boys were little.

Tower of Terror. I am terrified of "drop rides" and refused to go on it. Finally after hearing all the great reviews from friends I decided to suck it up and go on it. The first time was basically screaming expletives (didn't mean to) as I was terrified. But one day I decided to go on it alone just to prove to myself that I could. I really had a good time and now I enjoy it.

All of the dark rides. I never found them at reasonable times but now I can always get on them, with the exception of Peter Pan, in ten minutes or less.

I used to always avoid the Enchanted Tiki Room, but I love it now. Haunted Mansion used to terrify me when I was younger because it had the word "haunted" in it, but it's one of my favorites now.
