Talking Red Car News Boys and Newsies.

(I know there's been posts about this show) Personally, this is one of my favorite shows at Disney California Adventure. It also helps that one of my favorite movies is Newsies with Christian Bale the movie was released in 1992. Disney has also made a Broadway version of Newsies; currently it's not touring from New York.

If you're a Newsies fan, obviously, Seize the Day is one of the original songs from the film. They've slightly changed the words. But those who've followed Newsies as a "Cult" who like or dislike this show?

The only issue I have with the Newsies show is most of the singers are horribly out of tune every time I see it. A couple of them can sing wonderfully but unfortunately more than half butcher all the high areas of the song so much that I will actually leave the area if I happen to be there when they roll out.

I'd be ok with it if it was not historically innaccurate.

I love the show too, but I agree that some of the performers don't quite hit all of the right notes.

and just out of curiosity, what is historically inaccurate about the show, aside from possible the baseball team line?
    Disneyland Wooooh!

I'd be mostly ok with it if it didn't have that absurd backbeat. Talk about destroying the illusion of being in 1930s Los Angeles.

I agree, I personally like the idea of the show but the execution could be stronger. I think that when people are saying it's not period accurate they mainly mean the sound of the songs and the super pop-eeee overtones. And I suppose for it being Disney'fied it's hard to get the grittiness and accuracy for news boys, through costuming, since they are seemingly garish and theatrical.

Being a Newsies fan, I personally had wished they'd use more songs from the film or stage show, but I understand the demographic isn't that of the 1990s failed Disney musical...
And *to note* the lyric changes to Seize the Day are from the Broadway version, which by the way I encourage anyone who hasn't seen it to definitely make a trip to NYC and see it!! SO incredible!

LOVED THIS SHOW! We made an attempt to see it every day that we went to CAP on our trip this year. Thanks for the heads up on the "failed" film with Bale. I'll definitely download it tonight.

Honestly, I didn't mind the off-tune notes here and there. It made it real and raw for me. Definitely one, if not the best, show that Disney has to offer.

I thought the show was okay, and like any person who has heard 'Seize the Day,' I was mouthing along with most of the lyrics.

I did like that the show finally allowed me to see the 'talking Mickey' I had just seen some video of.

Though I still can't get them singing 'California Here I Come' out of my head after 4 months. The bass beat and them coming down the street on that trolley car just clicked.
