The Test Track and Indy projects can't really be compared. Test Track was totally redesigned. Indy was spruced up. Two different reasons for downtime.

I just wonder if the update was less for the set, and more for the software running the show. That would include the vehicles, lighting, effect timing, and set interaction.
That would mean that even though the attraction was closed 3 months, vehicles were constantly running to test the software tweaks meaning that there was less time to close the attraction and work on physical set pieces. Maybe a second downtime will happen after the busy Christmas season or late next year?
According to multiple CMs they really didn't mess with the vehicles in a significant manner because there wasn't enough downtime to redo them all. I'll try to find out from maintenance.
Doctor: We're too exposed everywhere. And Amy can't move. And besides, that's not the plan.
River: There's a plan?
Doctor: I don't know. I haven't finished talking yet.

Just got back from the park, and I'm so happy they finally fixed an anachronism for years that has bothered me:
They finally show the 'track line' to the chamber you are suppose to go into if you didn't look into the eyes.
This always seemed like a massive oversight to me, as they did it in the chamber room for the doors, but not to the actual back of the riches/youth/future room? Glad to see this is now fixed.

^That is a huge change! That has bothered me dramatically to the point that most people I have gone on the attraction with didn't even know what that was.
I just got back from the park. My whole trip was to see Indy. I only went on it once but here are my thoughts :
The ride it self wasn't as rough as I had hoped but still good. We entered the Chamber of Youth, which I have not seen in a few years....It was very beautifully lit, shinning and sparkling like when it first opened. Next I noticed the lightening was more vibrant then it had been in some time. The bug room was indeed much better and you could tell there were bugs crawling all over. The bridge had guard rails up but hardly noticeable unless you were looking for them. As we were attacked by the snake, there was more lighting and better paint on this slithering foe. As we went into the skull room, the demon on the scrim finally worked properly. The projection in the rat room also worked again. Then in the dart room the new paint job and the lighting was very nice, maybe some black light paint was added. I didn't notice if the bolder was working properly as we rode in the back.
Altogether a very nice refurb. And I can't wait to go back and ride it some more.
Little and broken, but still good.
Just thought I'd point out that In the Parks uploaded a video of the new Indy. You can definitely see some changes to the ride, especially with regards to the lighting. Be sure to watch in HD to catch all the little tweaks.
