Does it still bother you that DCA is not 100% California-themed?

I am just happy there are two Disney parks in SoCal.

Even the real Hollywood is limited in its location in CA. Seeing so many film productions leave CA, it's hard to pinpoint a Hollywoodland these days.

So far as DCA theme... It's themed enough to remain a tribute to California. I don't mind the direction it's going, actually prefer it.

I think it is more themed to California now than before the expansion. BVS reflects the California theme much more than Sunshine Plaza did.

I think the California theme was such a cheap idea anyway, since its original purpose was to keep tourists inside the DLR, and discourage them from actually visiting the rest of the state.

So a looser interpretation is fine with me.

The State of California started out great and has become a disaster.
California Adventure started out as a disaster and is now improving.

And to elaborate on what others have said above, I actually think that the recent additions to the park (Cars Land and BVS) are helping improve and enhance the Californian theme rather than detract from it. The major things that I have a problem with are "a bug's land" and its cheap kiddy attractions, the jumbled mess of Hollywood Land, and some of the sub par attractions and lacking theming in Paradise Pier.

The whole place is mostly a disaster. Sell it to Universal. Seriously.

I'll take it one step further; not only do I not care whether or not the park is appropriately California themed, I'm wondering how much longer until they figure out to change the name of the park to fit whatever it's evolved into. If it's not turning out to be so much about California ( and I never saw the logic of building a park about what it's like in CA while you're still in CA ) then just build it to be fun, keep is as "Disney" as possible and slap a new name on it already.

...unless the intent all along was to build a park that's a jumbled mess to match the jumbled mess that is our state and then yeah, it makes total sense. ( They should probably knock some potholes in the road so it feels more like CA. )

The one thing that really bugs me is the changing of Mullholland Madness to Goofy's Sky School.

Yes. It's a great example of how Disney puts profit over storytelling, income over creative authenticity.

Which is which, though? Is Mulholland the profit instead of storytelling, or is it Goofy?

I like the way Disney makes it feel like your in California with the Weather it's so magical that were able to capture that haha JK. I liked the idea of Ghirardelli at first then when I went disliked that. Starbucks was cool since there are many in California. I just can't help to think that more Popular things from California aren't represented I don't care if these that are say aren't there but at least acknowledge them such as having the first McDonalds which was located on Route 66, In-N-Out Burger, Tommy's Burger I'm in it for the FOOD MAN! Anyway I also think Hollywood Land should be given a MAJOR RENOVATION I just can't stand it. I dislike the Monsters Inc. ride. Might as well build some Missions,replace RedWood Creek Challenge Trail with Camp Pendleton, and add Power Plants then we got California i'm kidding. Is the flag of California even represented in the park? I like most parts as they fit California theme and tie in someway somehow.

It doesn't bother me because when I first heard the idea of Disney creating a California themed park my first thought was, "What? Why in the heck do we need an amusement park themed for California when you are in California?" It just seemed dumb and redundant to me, and the first time I stepped into the park, it was well not good. Now what they've turned it into with Buena Vista Street, Cars Land, the Little Mermaid ride, Toy Story Mania, and even the Mad T Party, it's a nicely themed and creative park in California that gives you a nice fun variety.

To me the only attraction that is clearly not Californian is The Little Mermaid. Cars Land, a bug's land, Toy Story, and Monsters Inc. are muddled, but I can see how you could make the arguement for them being in California. The fact that Ariel's Grotto serves seafood bothers me more than anything else.
