working around things is slower than building something.. and you're comparing construction in the 60s to construction now. Night and day due to regulation, oversight, etc.

Also, in no way will I believe that this ovehrhaul will cost $4 million. They could spend that in new hardware alone for this ride. As well, I don't really ever trust the OC Register for info, lol.

Speaking as a person who has spent 38 years in the heavy construction trades, the above post is exactly true. Just about every facet of construction has changed in the last 50 years, and a large portion of these changes result in higher costs and longer times.

Strange how Space (2003 or 2004??? to 2005), Splash (2011), Matterhorn (2011 & 2012), and now BTMRR are all so different in terms of age, but they are all within just a few years of each other in terms of massive refurbs. What set off this decade-long refurb schedule? Was it the issue with Space Mt? Or was it the issue with BTMRR about 10 years ago?

I am glad they are getting TLC, and I would love to know who is next. After BTMRR, is anything left in the e-ticket catagory? Small World?

Small World got a lengthy refurb in 2008. I think Haunted Mansion is one attraction that hasn't gotten a major refurb yet aside from Constance and floating Leota.
