They should put in roller coasters all over the place!
Exactly. Maybe they can add a linear induction launch and a couple of inversions to the railroad, too.
Not everything needs to make one go "yippee" while careening down a steep hill.

But you said that already and now again, but that'd be your definition of "families having fun together". And another thrill ride would fit into someone else's definition of "families having fun together".
I don't see how building an e-ticket/thrill ride in that area would go against "what the park is all about".
The park is ultimately about earning the most $ per square foot. If there is space, a good idea, and it's built well, I say bring it on. I'm not against progressive design, expansion or ideas...if that means a thrill ride, excellent.
Imagine if they adhere to the "Tom Sawyer" theme... Politically Incorrect Face Characters running around, a politically incorrect daily show... It'd be amazing.
That may even be in someone's definition of "families having fun together"!

Could they...yes..should they no
You'd lose Fantasmic which still draws crowds of 3000 or more a night

Fantasmic is on the south end of the island...

Because it would be removing an area that the entire family can enjoy together and replacing it with a ride that only those family members who meet the height requirement can enjoy.

Are you sure about this? not as i see it, using the empty zone west of BTMRR as the load and anchor for an attraction that touches the north end of the island.
Is that area even in use? It's such a non visit location, IMO.

The original post said nothing about limiting this to the north end of the island.
Even if that were the case, I don't think that I would like that as a location since it would require removal of some of the scenery that is passed on the Mark Twain such as the settler's cabin.
Re: Could they fit a thrill ride on Tom Sawyer's Island?
Well, given how trees on the banks of Rivers of America tend to just fall over these days....
Re: Could they fit a thrill ride on Tom Sawyer's Island?
Just what I want to see from the Mark Twain as we round the bend in the river:
http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...tAsMmEB-mHmpFw
What possibly could be more evocative of the 19th century frontier, I ask you!
(Of course, if we give it a suitable theme-appropriate name, like "Becky Thatcher's Curls" or "Pap's Drunken Nightmare," it just might fly. A perfect melding of "theme" and "relevance!")
Re: Could they fit a thrill ride on Tom Sawyer's Island?
Unless they quit all of the boats and do tunnels like in Paris for Big Thunder, it wouldn't work Fantasmic would have to be shut down too. But I've always toyed with a Treasure Island-themed ride.

It would, however infringe on families having fun together if a family-friendly attraction was replaced with a thrill ride which would most likely exclude people who are too young, too old, have medical issues, fear of fast moving rides, motion sickness, pregnancy...

I DON'T want to see THAT either .. If Disneyland puts in more rides, what will Magic Mountain do? they won't be " the thrill ride capitol of .." anymore.. uh oh.
