    Passport question

    Do you have to bring your passports daily to the parks, or is a drivers license good enough for ID? Do you need to supply 2 pieces of ID? And do you need anything for your kids for ID?

    You never need to bring a passport if you have a driver's license. Just 1 for adults, nothing for kids.

    For your first time registering you do need to bring your drivers license, anyone under 18 does not require id. After you get your Annual Passport Plastic card you will need to bring this with you every time you want to enter the park or receive discounts, as well as parking if included in your pass. Your photo will be attached digitally to your passport after they take your picture. If you loose the card I believe it is $25 to $30 to get it replaced.

    Dustinius, the Disneyland Annual Pass/Passport serves as your actual ticket for entry and for discounts. HOWEVER, you still want to have a photo ID with you (i.e. driver's liscense, state ID, american [or whatever country your passport may be issued from] passport) for when you purchase anything using a credit or debit card. Just make sure it is something that is government issued. The Disneyland Resort Passports no longer have a picture on them and as far as I know, the ONLY time a photo pops up is upon entry at one of the Park Gates via turnstile. So you always want to have ID with you! Kids don't need ID.

    However, if you are talking about just simply bringing your traveling passport and not a Disneyland Annual Pass/Passport (sometimes it's referred to as Passport), then simply disregard this message! :-P

    Last I checked, non-citizens are required to have a Permanent Resident card or a passport with valid visa (if applicable) on their person at all times, regardless of age (although I suppose it'd be a good idea to have an adult hold on to a child's passport). A photocopy of a passport may help in replacing a lost passport, but is not itself a valid identity document.

    If you make any purchases at all with an Annual Passport discount, an ID matching the Annual Passport is required, regardless of age and payment method, since as you said, the only time a photo pops up is upon entry at one of the gates. If the Passholder is a minor without ID, the policy is to not apply a discount; if the minor has ID and it matches the Annual Passport, current policy now allows any adult in the party to pay for the purchase, and there should be no attempt to match the minor's last name with the adult's. With Annual Passports belonging to adults, the policy is unchanged: adult's Annual Passport, matching ID, and the Passholder has to pay.

    Your pictures pop up in an instant at the Main gate when they scan your Annual Pass.
    It's too bad that they can't incorporate that system into the point of sales registers.
    Eventually it will happen.

    I don't think that's likely.

    When a merchant who accepts credit cards suspects fraud, encounters an unsigned card, or encounters a card that says "See ID" or something similar, they must ask for ID according to the Rules for Visa Merchants and equivalent rules from the other card companies. These rules are very specific on what they consider valid ID, and the old style Disneyland Resort Annual Passports with the pictures printed on the face were not considered valid ID under these guidelines. A statistically significant number of Annual Passholders have credit cards that trigger ID checks and complained when Cast Members, in accordance with the credit card acceptance rules, refused to accept their Annual Passports as identification. The current generation of passes do not have pictures printed on them, which prevents this problem; a small number of Passholders still complain when a credit card ID check is triggered after the Cast Member decides that they would make an exception to the Annual Passport ID check rule and process the discount.
