Re: Am I the only one who likes the Little Mermaid ride?

I actually love this ride! It's a must do everytime I go (partially because it always has such a short line). A big reason as to why I love it as much as I do is because it was the very first attraction that I got on on it's opening day. Another reason is because I just love the soundtrack of the attraction/movie so much.
The music celebration puts some motion into my ocean!

Yea I dig the ride too. The Little Mermaid isn't even close to being one of my favorite Disney movies but I appreciate a return to dark-rides for the parks. I will say that I do envy WDW's queue and facade though. Although I understand people's complaints to a degree, I still very much think it's a perfectly good ride.

You aren't the only one. I quite enjoy the ride. Whenever I am in DCA I go on it like 3 times.

We had built the mock-up for this ride in 1992 at WDI on Tujunga near Glendale, CA .. why to it take so long to be placed into the parks?

Yes! WDW's queue is absolutely stunning, not to mention beautifully detailed and highly immersive.

In fact, I think the queue is better than the actual ride.

I love it. It's very efficient so it almost never has a long line, makes great use of the relatively small space given to house the ride yet tells a very good story in a small place. I'll also say I LOVE the animatronics. That and the genius lighting techniques make it look like you're actually under water. Despite the ugly queue (granted there isn't enought space for a queue like in WDW) I love the ride.

Re: Am I the only one who likes the Little Mermaid ride?

I like it. Animatronics that actually give performances instead of the "bobblehead" figures feel like a breath of fresh air.

I do have a couple critiques.

I would have preferred a bit more of a sense of danger (despite the title, the only "adventure" is going into Ursula's Grotto. We could have at least used a scene of giant Ursula attacking.)

Also, I'd like to see the carbon-copy repeated figures replaced with more distinctive ones. You ride into Under the Sea at into looks really impressive at first, but nothing screams "this is fake" like figures looking exactly the same. At least paint them a little different or something.

Not a must ride every time, but I enjoy it. It's charming.

I love the animatronics on the ride! Much better than it it were done in a cutout style. I go on it every time im in DCA, its relaxing, fun, and perfectly air-conditioned!

I really love the show building and the ride vehicles. The building is gorgeous and there are so many little details, like the sea urchins on the posts and the shells embedded into the terrazzo.

The ride itself is unfortunately a complete disappointment to me.

Re: Am I the only one who likes the Little Mermaid ride?

I really don't understand what people were expecting with this ride. The concept included with the dvd was obviously indy and pirates level and was never going to happen. I went in expecting a small dark ride not much more elaborate than FL's(which people seem to be fine with) and I came out impressed.

Is it state of the art and the pinacle of WDI's talents? No, of course not. But it is great for what it is. OK maybe that ariel AA is state of the art but thats not the point
In the quest for quality, I have no problem with the characters footing the bill.

Re: Am I the only one who likes the Little Mermaid ride?

I enjoy it. My biggest issue at first was how bright the underwater "music scene" was. I know they toned it down somewhat, but I still think if they made it darker and used colored spotlights on the creatures (maybe get some ideas from the Mad T Party band), I think it'd have a better feel to it. That's my only dislike about it.

I concur with most of the posters...I like the ride, but I think they could have given us an attraction that most of us love. As it is, the fact that it's a people eater elevates it in people's estimation. What if the wait times were bad?

Is it bad if a really big portion of my love for the ride comes from the CM's outfits? They're just so adorable!

this. lot of empty spots and no fight scene make this ride not that good. Monsters inc is way better imo
