Best time to go during the month of May?

I am in the beginning stages of planning another trip to Disneyland during the month of May. I don't recall ever being to the park in May before so I must ask, when would be the best time of the month to go?
I do see that none of the AP's are blocked out, but I found quite a few websites and testimonials saying Disneyland isn't all that crowded up until Memorial Day which is on May 27th this year.

I already know a few plus sides to the month is the CA schools are still in session and the Spring Break crunch is long over. The weather also starts to warm up a bit and the rainy season usually slows down.

I would go towards towards the beginning of May because the Spring Break crowds should be gone by then.

I second the early May suggestion. There's less likely to be schools on summer break earlier in May, plus it should be a little cooler than later in the month.

Thanks for the tips, guys. I was leaning more toward early May as well. If I go I'll be going to CA via Phoenix so I'm sure no matter how warm it is it will feel better than Arizona.

I would say the week after Easter and all the way up to Mermorial is generaly light. I would wait until we hear when the Fantasy Fair will be open.

It is much lighter but I see a lot of field trip (band/chior) groups. I like to go on Wendesdays & when i think of the month of May, that's what comes to mind.

That is a valid point, jbean. When I had my high school trip we went in early May.

May tends to have morning fog which burns off by afternoon so the morning can be cool.

If going for multiple days you may want to plan around Grad Nites. These days have busy evenings, expand midweek hours, and some groups of teen which may be annoying. 9-11, 15-18, 22-24, and the 29th and 30th.

Like brainpinsky say you may want to see about Fantasy Faire, of course in May some rehabs take place to get things done for Summer. So if you can wait you might want to see what is opening and closing before picking dates.

Right now we're looking at May 6-10, so Grad Nites for the 9-11 wouldn't make too much damage. But yeah I wasn't even thinking about Fantasy Faire.

We took a 5 day trip last year between May 30-June 3. Crowds were light each day and Grad Nights were not in effect. The parks were open until Midnight each day as well.

We had a great time!

I think your best bet is going to be the first week in May. The crowds are ususally lowest that week than any other time throughout the month, plus it is before Grad Nights begin.

Probably but this far in advance, what it will be is not known. As we get into Spring Break we will start getting firm information about what will be scheduled in May.
