My Sister and I just got back from the Parks about an hour ago, and want to thank EVERYONE that helped us with answers to a few questions regarding staying at the Grand Californian.
We were the ones that had lost our Mom last week (Dad three years ago) and were heading down to stay at GC after the funeral, in order to celebrate their lives.
Well, someone ( and I appologize I can't remember which one of you it was..but thank you thank you thank you) told us to let the CM's know what had happened and why we were there. We did, and all of us, (my sis, myself and the CM's at Registration) were not only teary-eyed, but we all started crying as well. Then, they said, "wait a sec." and gave us an upgraded...then they said "wait a sec" again, and gave us an upgrade to a FULL SUITE overlooking the park with the most incredible view I have ever seen. We were staying for three nights, and were just stunned at the gift they had just given us. We couldn't thank them enough. And then as we turned to leave the Reg desk and head to our newly upgraded suite... the piano player came in, sat down, and played "The Rose" (which was the song that had been sung at our Mom's funeral..it was her favorite piece of music). Then, after the song had been played, the player got up and left!! What was so amazing was that absolutely no one there knew about the song, or the details of her service. We took it as a gift from Mom, letting us know that she was alright, back with Dad and approving.
We had an incredible time, alternately bawling our heads off or laughing hysterically at something that reminded us not only of them, but strange and unusual things happening that let us know that they were with us the entire time.
So, thank you everyone for giving us details of the hotel, and making this an unbelievable experience. We celebrated Mom and Dad's lives in the best way possible. Hugs to each and everyone of you out there!
Kim (and Josie too!)
