Re: Disney's 1952 Film Retitled Tomorrowland!

Well, this NERD's interest is peaked with the collaboration of Damon Lindelof, Brad Bird and George Clooney on what sounds like a Sci Fi / Action Film (could Walt Disney Pictures be returning to something close to say THE BLACK HOLE (1979) only with a better marketing team to promote this film?) ....

Or, will we see something "retro" involving what Tomorrowland was originally influenced by ("Tomorrow can be a wonderful age. Our Scientists today are opening the doors of the Space Age to achievements that will benefit our children and generations to come. The Tomorrowland attractions have been designed to give you an opportunity participate in adventures that are a living blueprint of our future" - Walt Disney); which would Be Walt Disney's interest in Wernher Von Braun's plans for Manned Space Flights during the 1950s ....

Now I'm going to have to dig up all the old footage from when Walt Disney had those great short films MAN IN SPACE, MAN AND THE MOON, MAN AND BEYOND (1955 - 1957)

I read an article on Lainey Gossip and she suspects that Tomorrowland is the long awaited Walt Disney movie. That would be pretty sweet! 1952 was the year that Walt Disney announced that he would be building Disneyland.

Actually Disney was working on a reboot of The Black Hole for the longest time and the plan was to have Joseph Kosinski direct. That is why in Tron Legacy there is a Black Hole reference at the beginning of the film. I'm not sure what is going on with that project currently but it's unrelated to this movie.

Re: Disney's 1952 Film Retitled Tomorrowland!

According to industry reports actor Hugh Laurie ('House') is in negotiations to star as the villian in the upcoming Brad Bird film, 'Tomorrowland.'

    Also:

When asked yesterday Bird said that George Clooney will direct and star in his own previously announced film, 'The Monuments Men' first before beginning production on Disney's 'Tomorrowland'.

'The Monuments Men' is the story of the U.S. government's efforts to retrieve artwork stolen by Hitler's forces and the art experts whose skills are put to use in the campaign. The film will star Clooney, Daniel Craig, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Bob Balaban and Best Actor winner Jean Dujardin ('The Artist').

    Mods note:

perhaps this thread could now be relocated from DL section to NEWS or MOVIES, thanks!
