DL: Mainstreet Electrical Parade returns this year!

I was in line for Indiana Jones yesterday with my sister, and in front of us was a Filipino family/group being escorted by a couple of Disneyland suits or trenchcoat mafia as my sister refers to them. One cast member leading their party and the other trailing it, directly in front of us. We get to the part in the queue where they are showing the movie and my sister and I are discussing random Disney trivia.

About halfway through that part of the queue with the movie, the Disney cast member must of over heard us because he turns and quietly asks us if we like Disney history? We reply with a 'yes' and and he proceeds to ask us if we remember the Electrical Parade? To which we reply that the last time we saw it was a few years back at California Adventure. His next sentence was basically 'Don't tell anyone, but it will definitely be back this year at Disneyland!' He goes on to tell us he can't wait for it's return and he has difficultly keeping it to himself when he's around people who really enjoy the park.

Being huddled with this cast member in line while he basically whispers to us this info was one of the most unique experiences I've ever had at the park to say the least. I really hope this is true as it was my mom's favorite show when we'd visit the park when I was a kid, and I'd love to take her this year so she can see it.

Might not be news to some, but I thought it was pretty interesting and figured I'd share.

Sorry but I'm going to be Sammy the Skeptic here and raise the question:

For the amount of money it takes to have the parade shipped back here from Orlando wouldn't you think that Disney would be screaming it at the top of their lungs by now that it's coming back? The Electrical Parade didn't help DCA's attendance much and it's in the general sense a much less popular parade to the masses than it was in the eighties. I don't see Disney writing any checks in 2013 to get the parade back, even if it's for the Limited Time Magic campaign.

SpectroMagic is not slated to return and the Magic Kingdom intends to keep running the Main Street Electrical Parade. If the parade were to return to Disneyland it should be built anew from the ground up. It should epic and awe inspiring on its own merits, not on nostalgia for its better days.

From what I understand that Soundsational will become the day parade and the electrical would become a 6/8 (Wint/Sum) show. Sound heading north and Electrical heads south. what I know so many WDW fan want Spectro back but I would much rather get DLMSEP back not D Electical Parade.

The Electrical Parade was DCA's saving grace during first year, and continued attracting crowds like nothing else in DCA could!

MSEP remained EXTREMELY popular throughout the 90's, until it was sent around the country at the end of 1996.

Maybe it'll be a MyMagic+ nostalgia event, like the Golden Horseshoe.
I wouldn't mind that. If it comes back, it won't help Paul Pressler's reputation.

Our neighbor (a former Imagineer) has over 200,000 lights in his home Christmas display
with every second set to fit one of the many songs he's selected. And some other neighbors have amazing lights shows too, so the spread of amazing Christmas light shows has raised the bar and if the MSE Parade is to be more permanent it should try to wow us with double the # of lights, new and more impressive animated floats, and . . . well, that's where the Imagineers come in.

I say more floats in the DLMSEP I would not have a problem sitting through more floats can we do what they did before one new additon/upgrade every season!

YES THIS! A totally brand new electrical parade or any night time light parade would be what our park needs!
