Why is it that everyone here likes to use "Walt theoreticals" to object to any change they don't like, no matter how slight?
My top favorite Disneyland attractions:
1. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
2. Pirates of the Caribbean
3. Splash Mountain
4. Mad Tea Party
5. Peter Pan's Flight
6. Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin
Likely because Walt Disney's vision behind DL was to present something beyond the conventions of the run of the mill theme park, the usual gimmicks, and obvious grabs for money.
Change isn't bad.....even Walt believed that. But change "on the cheap" is beneath this park. Not every change is protested. Just the ones that compromise the originality of DL.

Exactly right. Many of us want to see change in the parks, but we want to see changes that emphasize theme instead of franchises, originality instead of marketability, imagination instead of branding, and immersive stories instead of passive spoon-fed experiences.Originally Posted by Ortizmo2000

I don't think Walt would like this thread,
but I think he'd be too polite to say so to us, his Disneyland guests.
Everyone here? Generalizing much?
I'm sure people invoke Walt when something is good as well.
Walt had a vision for Disneyland: a place where families could have fun together, a place that provided good value, and a place that rose above all others when it comes to imagination and quality.
Walt may be long gone, and none of us can say for certain how Walt would feel about the Disneyland that exists today, but these are the basic standards to which many people evaluate changes and additions at Disneyland, which is more than reasonable.
Carsland is a good example of something that is highly detailed and immersive, and appeals to just about everyone. It's not perfect, and it is yet another movie/Pixar tie-in, but on the whole it fits with Walt's vision.
Other changes, not so much. Would Walt have built a Winnie the Pooh ride that isn't noticeably better than similair rides that are decades old? Perhaps not.
I think Walt would hate us. We're overcritical of everything. Look today is better than it was when he was around. Construction fences were at leg level and everything was allowed to take a little weathering. I think the Disney community has become more stubborn than good.

What bothers me is that a lot of people are always liking to generalize everything, including what Walt would have wanted.

I think he would have loved me.
What would Walt think of the empty PeopleMover tracks (now close to 13 years since they were used last)? What would he think of the abandoned Fantasyland sky way station? What would he thought of Innoventions? On the flip side, I think he would have approved of Cars Land and Buena Vista street, not to mention all of the other quality attractions built since his death. We invoke his name, as BC_DisneyGeek stated, when we see something of quality as well as something that should have been never built or quickly removed for replacement.
If Walt were here, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
Sometimes it seems like an attempt to give gravitas to one's personal opinion. It's okay to say you don't like somethingYour opinion is valid without imagining Walt's opinion! Remember, "Disneyland is YOUR land!"
