    Noir themed restaurant for Hollywoodland

So I was reading about the ABC soap opera bistro, and it seems like a cool concept. Sadly, it doesn't fit into the current theme of Hollywoodland. I think a good way to bring the general idea back while fitting with the golden age theme of Hollywoodland, would be a Film noir/ mystery themed restaurant. The restaurant would be similar to the soap opera bistro except it would revolve around the Noir mystery movies of the 30's and 40's. It would have common characters such as the detective, his partner, policemen etc, and each room would be a different setting. The settings would include a night club, the roof top of a building, a police station, a gangster hide out, a dock by the beach, and a hotel lounge. Each setting would have realistic sounds and music the fit the area as well as musical performances in the hotel lounge and night club to complement the setting.

I would be all for this! I am a big fan of the film noir era. Most people don't even notice the Phillip M. Noir Detective Agency sign. I sure did.

The sign is on one of the storefronts in Hollywoodland. At least it used to be. One of the many movie references that I imagine a lot of folks don't even notice. What is your favorite noir film? Mine would be Sunset Boulevard. Back in the 70s at Cal State Fullerton they offered a film noir class. Watched a movie every week.

You should watch them...they're pretty good. Dark Waters is more of a horror movie, but it does have elements of noir

    My favorite is Mildred Pierce.

One thing I wonder about this idea is the lighting. One of the hallmarks of film noir is the use of lighting and deep shadows, and I wonder how this could be accomplished in a real life setting.

Maybe the lights could be put in specific places so that they cast large shadows? Or some of the shadows could actually be painted and the lights would be dimmed so they blend the actual shadows and the painted shadows together? I had a passing though about having everything black and white, but it would probably be weird seeing waiters in grey paint lol
