Re: Silly Symphony Swings Removed For Refurb?

Even though I don't ride them very often, I love the kinetic energy the swings add to the area. Especially at night. I hope they make a speedy recovery

I think it's quite fitting for the location and theme of the area. Personally, I like the ride and the music. Only thing I can say against it is that it's pretty much the same ride (though I imagine safer) than the one you ride at any carnival, but that's what makes it fitting for Paradise Pier.

Agreed. I quite enjoy the ride for these reasons. It's always a delight. That said, I wouldn't be heartbroken if something better (and more unique) replaced it since you can find similar rides at countless amusement parks, fairs, and boardwalks. SSS is probably my favorite of its kind simply because of the view of the paradise pier lagoon, the angle of its tilt and the motion that it creates, and the ride's perfect marriage to the spirited music, but I'm not crazy about it. I always ride it when I'm at DCA, so I do like it, it's just not anything new or particularly interesting.

I think I'm the only one who actually liked the Orange Stinger...especially when the park first opened and the swings were "bee"hinds.

Honestly, I have not been on SSS since the switch...but I have no problem with it, as it fits well with the boardwalk theme.

On the other hand, I absolutely love Golden Zephyr...for the same reasons as those who love SSS...I just like being in a "car" rather than a "swing". Personal preference.

My kids like it..but I still think it's a pretty out of the box attraction for a Disney park. I'm not sure what else could even fit in there at this point. Maybe a couple more DVC carts?

The cast members assigned to SSS muct be relieved to able to take a break from William Tell Overture.

There seems to be enough rides in that general vicinity that goes in circles, so I wouldn't mind seeing it gone as well. A dancing area as Ohmyjustin said would be awesome. Dancing by the water seems very appropriate for the areas theme! But there would just be a complaint for a lack of rides...

I love that feeling of flying it gives you. The line is usually pretty short, it's fun, and you get a great view. I wouldn't care if they removed Goofy Sky School, Jumpin' Jellyfish, or the boardwalk games. But I will be sad if they take away the swings.

I'd rather they put dancing where the Golden Zephyr or Jumpin' Jellyfish are.

Awwww, LOVE the Silly Symphony Swings! I believe it's down for refurb/maintenance and will be back. Saw mention of it today.

Can't wait to ride it again!

I love those swings! I don't really care much for the ones at fairs, but that one must go higher, or faster, or something because it's really a lot of fun!

Re: Silly Symphony Swings Removed For Refurb?

SSS is a simple design, so I can see them just removing it entirely to do a proper refurb, to bad they cant do that with other rides in the park.

With others that posted on this thread, SSS is a fantastic ride and I love it!

I have been to LA and Anaheim lots of times.
Can't remember there ever being any fresh air.
    But I digress.
Haven't been since '05 when the swings were inside a giant orange.
Be there in April, looking forward to the new configuration.
Hope it is back up and running by then.
I'm bummed that Big Thunder will be down for our trip.

I have never ridden this ride for fear of getting dizzy. I like the way it looks along the water's edge, though, and am very tempted to give it a shot!

Actually LA's air has been getting much better, but that's an entirely different subject.

When I say fresh air, I mean the cool winds blowing through your hair and onto your face. It feels good.
