Mickey's Rainy Day Cavalcade

During our recent trip to Disneyland, we were very excited to see Mickey's Soundsational Parade. It had been raining earlier in the day, but even though the sun was out, we only got to see Mickey's Rainy Day Cavalcade. The child near us summed it up perfectly, "That parade was twewible!"

In Tokyo there is still a parade even in the rain, complete with characters wearing special clear ponchos to protect their costumes. Can't this happen in Disneyland as well?!

It rains much more in Toyko then Southern California. Its really not worth Disney's time or money to create a parade specifically for rainy days, its simply won't be used enough.

EDIT: Sorry, just read your post again, I thought you meant a specific parade just for rainy days. I have seen videos of Sounsational on YouTube with characters using umbrellas

Haha! Years ago, my family staked out a spot to watch the parade. Three hours later, the Rainy Day Cavalcade went rolling by. My older cousin went berserk. It's still a moment we laugh about to this day (those of us who are not my cousin).

I will have to look up this Rainy Day Parade thing on youtube when I get home because I have never seen nor heard of it before....and that is no bueno!

The choreography is greatly reduced and parts of the parade is missing, but it still runs (sometimes)

I don't really know why they don't always perform the parade when it rains. I don't think its to stop the costumes getting wet because usually in Fantasmic some of the costumes are soaking by the end of the show regardless of the weather.

It's not that it's for safty of the dancers. I was there one time it rain and one of the CM told me and some others that the ground is so wet and that it be hard on the dancers to do there stuff so when it rains they cancel the parade or the short it by not have all the dancers in the parade for there safty

I got stuck watching that rainy day cavalcade thing last year. For us, it was just all the characters piled into the Main Street vehicles and drove up the road. No floats, no dancing.

Pretty lame milhouse. I would have preferred they just cancel it.

It was just a Main Street Vehicle with Mickey and Minnie and the Double Decker Bus with the rest of the characters. Pretty sad, especially since it was sunny and the rain was done for the day.

At least the regular parade with characters under umbrellas (no dancers would be ok, for their safety of course) would have been nice.

as a CM who has worked for parades let me explain... its simply the type of cement that is used, its very very slippery and they are using the same type of cement that was used on opening day. The dont make slip resistant dance shoes. Also, theres more liability with the company here in the US than in Tokyo

I was there last week on Friday and it rained on and off all day and actually hailed!! And yes the rainy day parade was on in place of the soundsational parade.

haha! We caught the rainy day cavalcade this past fall. The best part, was that my BF's Step Mom was able to record the whole thing in a 20 second video on her phone. HAHAHA! It became the highlight of the stay, rewatching 'the best parade ever' at random times of the day.

its just Mickey and Minnie in one vehicle, and a bunch of others in the Omibus...just waving.
