Do they still ask for proof if ID when shopping?

Last time we were at Disneyland while our annual passes were still good, every time I would attempt to purchase something and use my AP for my discount I'd get carded. Their excuse was always "oh, we don't have your photo in our systems yet like the turnstiles so we have to see ID before you can use your discount."

Do they still do this? IMO its annoying and it was hard when my older son wanted to buy something he couldn't because they would card him and he never carried his high school ID card with him.

Wondering now because we might be moving back to California soon and looking to buy So Cal Annual Passes but we won't have our CA ID's before we get our passes. I'm wondering if we'll get in trouble if they ask for ID and we pull out another state's license. (we will be using our utility bill as proof of residency to get the passes.)

Not all places ask for them, but I think it's more so CM-to-CM discretion. IDK if they're SUPPOSED to and some just don't, or the other way around.

Yes they still ask for ID, and one should always have their ID on them.

Yes, they ask for ID. There are no pictures on the cash registers.

They'll ask for ID, but you don't need to worry about the "out of state ID" with socal pass problem. That's not the CM's job. They know that somehow someway you got a socal pass....all they care about is that you are showing an ID with a picture that matches the name on the pass.

They do this so prevent people from handing their passes off to family members/friends who don't have passes to use their discount. If you want a friend/family member to use your pass discount, be with them at the register at the time of purchase. That way everything is on the up and up and doesn't seem like you're trying to pull a scam or something.

yeah it gets annoying when used for every purchase... CC purchase i understand but with cash, it gets tiring....

I try to use as little cash as possible so when I buy things at Disneyland I give then three cards (ID, credit card and annual pass). I keep those cards together when I'm in the park.

Not anymore. They stopped it a long time ago. Now when you get an AP you do that at the ticket booths, and they direct you to visit a PhotoPass Photographer once you go in the parks. You tell the PP photographer you need your AP picture and they take it. Then that photo is kept in the AP system and shows up on the gate CM's screen as you enter.
