Yup -- at Disney, brilliant ideas like this one often trickle down from the top.

But wait! What's this? Wafting from the TDO and TDA buildings comes the barbershop harmony of the RISC Quartet (Rasulo, Iger, Staggs & Crofton), rehearsing a song from Beauty and the Beast to be performed for WDW and DLR guests...

I don't know who came up with the expression of "worst idea - EVER!" (Comic Book Guy on The Simpsons maybe?) but if you wanted to put an example beside it - Dapper Dans singing Boy Bands would be it.

    An absolute head shaker.

I am just sad over it because it doesn't seem like anything special. I love rock and death metal so can they sing some of that? I'd like to see that for a day.

It just doesn't seem like they put to much thought into it. Yes, luckily, it's only one week unless we are the test subjects to see if this could work all the time.

I'll admit I was originally against this when I heard about it, and I wasn't a fan of the YouTube link I originally posted. The video on Disney Parks Blog made me a bit more of a fan, and I definitely will be watching them perform at least once while my group is at Disneyland this next week. I think many people are reacting negatively because of their perception of what "Limited Time Magic" should be. However to be honest I think we should count ourselves lucky so far in Disneyland because WDW seems to have been getting the short end of the stick when it comes to LTM. I mean I know this is not near the level as the Golden Horseshoe Revue Tribute, but not every offering can be a cool as that.

I just...I can't even understand what would have inspired them to think this promotion was even remotely viable. For current fans of boy bands, aren't the boys in the band the big draw? Do they really want to hear those songs sang by a barbershop quartet in turn of the century dress? Would anyone else care (or even know) those songs? Ugh.

How about some nice Motown music? That would have been so much better than the songs that they'll be singing in a few days. This is coming from a big fan of *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys.

Against their will? This is their job. They get paid and if they don't like their job, they're allowed to leave. Having fun is important, especially in the entertainment industry, but they're not high school kids putting arrangements for the heck of it.

What this is, to me, is a way to get the general public into the barbershop scene. One Direction's song sounds really cool in the Dapper Dans' arrangement and even if it doesn't appeal to everyone, it will put a smile on someone's face. A cappella is a hard sell for some people and having familiar songs makes it a lot easier for people to maintain their interest.

Are those Florida dappers? Any videos I see of Cali dappers usually have at least 1 that I recognize...

Anywho.. I love the dappers. I love acapella music.. and I am HOPING for lots of videos of this event. I actually love when modern music is take and put into an acapella arrangement, ESPECIALLY when it still sounds "vintage y"

I could see this, and would probably enjoy it, at any other theme/amusement park in the country... but at Disneyland it's just awful, and I'm glad it's "magic" is limited to 3 minutes per show and only one week of performances.
It's actually "Cars Land", not "Carsland".

It's too obvious they're trying to market to all the 30-year-olds...30-year-olds who hopefully have young kids who want to get princess/pirate makeovers... Just like all the 90s music they play at downtown Disney... Nothing like a little All 4 One and Paula Abdul to help you remember/miss your youth and open your wallet for the kids...

$100 bucks says that Hip Hop Mickey will be showing up to these things.
