How deep in the water in Pirates of the Caribbean?

I'm guessing it's not very deep at all...I imagine if you jumped out of the boat you could easily stand. Am I right?

CMs at night use boots to wade through the water.

Not deep at all maybe less than 2fts in some area of the attraction. If you look at the video I shot of the Pirate with the light on toward the end you can see the water is very shallow.

Note that you don't want to jump out and check the water depth for yourself, you'll almost certainly be escorted out of the park and your tickets or Annual Passport revoked. But the water is at Chest Wader depth at most, around two feet along the main track where the boats travel.

Note that the CM's don't go in the water until after the ride has been shut down and all the water circulating pumps turned off. And there are certain areas you can't go without special precautions, like at the Load/Unload Station and around the drops and the 'Up the waterfall' lift at the end.

Re: How deep in the water in Pirates of the Caribbean?

I know the Small World water is about stomach deep. As a night custodial CM, on two different nights I wore fishing waders and walked the flume. It was very rare that we did that. I know they walk the flume in pirates much more often, maybe nightly. It's as Bruce said. The water in pirates is deeper during the day. At night, they pump much of the water to the upper level. Otherwise, I would guess it the same depth as Small World...

Wonder if the water is filtered, as I assume they do not want to dirty of water as it would start to destory the ride.

Oh, absolutely. I'm told the water has to be held to public swimming pool standards in there for sanitizer levels and Ph balance. They're probably using sand depth filters like a public pool when they run the water through the pumps and back upstairs.

It's way too big for Diatomaceous Earth (home pool) filtering - except maybe for running the make-up water through one so the dirt doesn't get into the ride water in the first place.

City Water is bacteriologically safe to drink, but they don't worry about the fine sediments and dissolved solids - It's clear when viewed in small amounts like a garden hose or drinking fountains, but it's an opaque brown when you first fill a swimming pool.
