The backstages of DCA and DL are already connected by a road that goes under the east Esplanade.

The ones that are realy like the ones at WDW are in Tomorrowland and up to 2001 guests got to go through for the Rocket Rods line que went into the current Buzz and then headed underground and came back up above tomorrowland at the platform. The tunnel system extends all the way to the Astro Orbitor back to Tommorrowland Terrence (underground stage loading) then back to Innoventions. Then another tunnel extends to Pixie Hollow and then to Matterhorn. Its mostly used currently for Tomorrowland Terence for getting trash out and put the performers on stage, to get the fairies to Pixie Hollow and Tinkerbell to Matterhorn for her nightly flight. The enterances are in the rockwork outside Astrobiter, a door outside Tomorrowland Terrance, The gaint Tea cup in Pixie Hallow and a trash shute on the north side of the eating area of Tomorrowland Terrance and the doors behind Buzz.
I noticed the rockwork door too one night while visiting...pointed it out to my g/f and we both wondered where it went.

I think Disneyland has a clever system of navigation we're not really sure about. Of course, when I was in 8th grade and we went on our "junior high graduation" disneyland trip, we were told the security/Disneyland jail was located underground somewhere...

It's behind the east side of Main Street. Well, between Main Street, the Dioramas of the Railroad, and Space Mountain. Between this area is large backstage area. (The parade floats rest here between the afternoon and night parades). There is a lot of backstage stuff here. The Security office and Disney jail are here. (or at least it was before DCA and DTD).

And no.... I have never been a "guest" of the jail. I used to be a CM and saw it.

That is only access to the Astro Orbitor equipment room and the underside of the ride, there's no other need for a tunnel out there and never has been.

I think there is also an electrical hookup down there. I've seen stuff routed to that when they have a stage set up in front of the castle.

More than likely they ran some extra circuits through from the Tomorrowland Main Power Room (which is underneath the south side of the old Peoplemover/Rocket Jets platform in a huge Manhole) to the Astro-Orbitor equipment room, and put a "Stunt Box" down there just for those temporary hook-ups.

A "Stunt Box" or "Company Switch" is simple - a permanent big safety switch or circuit breaker (200A - 400A - 800A) connected to an double-door enclosure with a set of landing-lug connectors and/or "Camlock" stage cable quick-connects inside. They land the temporary wiring headed to the stage or lighting equipment on the lugs, route the wires through a little hatch, and close the cover. Once they have the portable gear connected to the other end of the cables, they can turn it on safely.

They come in many different sizes and styles - 120/240V 1-Phase or 3-Phase, 120/208V 3-Phase, 277/480V 3-Phase. The important part is that the box doesn't care what you hook to it, it's just Raw Power to tap on and use as needed.

There is another big underground Power/Lighting/Sound vault under the north side of the Hub, to the east of the north center entry path. Look for the round flip-open access hatch and Air Conditioning Condensing Unit hiding in the bushes - Once seen, you'll never forget where it is.

Look closely in the bushes and planters all around the castle, you'll see big 4" and 6" PVC Pipe caps on plastic conduits stubbed up in the lawn and hiding behind the walls, sometimes hidden under a fake rock. Some of those conduits go back to the power room, others loop under the paths and between the planters so they can run lighting and control cables in them - without having to cross the paths with those big black & yellow safety trays that can get tripped over.

This is how they can make all the stage and lighting & sound gear for Grad Nites and New Years Eve and other special events pop up overnight and look "built in" - because they pretty much are. Just place the temporary truss towers with all the lights and speakers, thread the cables through the conduits, and hook them up to the pre-installed gear down in the vault. Bada-Boom! Party down.

Re: Are Utilidors Being Built Beneath the Disneyland Resort?

Actually The Disneyland Jail is located near where Uniforme Issues are, back near the parking structure, horticulture, paint and sign shop, and tram maintance. Security is located there because if there is a issue they can escort them to their car or to the street with having to go back through the main plaza.

I am unsure is they added a new tunnel for DCA they would have put it from behind Cozy Cone to behind Lugiis. That would make the most sence because that area behind Cozy cone is grouped off from the rest of the park so it would make sence for the them to get people backstage at that point. Don't quote me on that I will look into seeing if they got a new tunnel. There is a backstage tunnel in bugsland. The cereal box that you go through to get to Fun Faire is the bridge. I don't know why they built it at the time since Sunset Blvd. Ended at ToT Fastpass ditribut and the backstage road conected.

Flos V8 Cafe has another grouped off backstage behind it. If you look at a map of Disneyland its just like how the Village Haues is to. I guess they don't need to get things back there to often during the day. They moved First Aid to the front of the park for the same reason they were now in that grouped off backstage area and they need to be able to use their vechiles during park hours to they moved them off the seperated area and now to the front of the park so they can have the main backstage roads to use.

Thanks for the image of Tinkerbell in some trenchcoat like she's a Ninja Turtle hanging out on the surface or some flasher that has pixie dust.
