Wizard of Oz vs. Lone Ranger for Circle D/BTR BBQ Expansion

I think that the early consensus is that OZtGaP is a little bit better than Tim Burton's Alice, and the visuals are at least as good as Alice, so if Alice grossed $1.0 Billion, I'm thinking around $1.2 Billion or so.

I'm surprised by the amount of neither votes cast. The lone ranger has a lot of potential to feature a lot of original stuff. I doubt any of the locations in the movie will be iconic so I would imagine most tie ins would be in name only and original creations in every other aspect. Plus I doubt they would make a lone ranger attraction.

Since you said to keep it between the two I'd prefer the Lone Ranger. Fantasyland has enough attraction and is getting two new ones this year, it's time for the other lands to get attention. Once that happens, i'd be fine with Oz coming somewhere else in fantasyland. What ever gies over there, I want my goats to be safe lol

I didn't go to the premier, but I have seen it.

I, personally, didn't like it and most of the people I saw it with didn't like it either. The story is weak and predictable and the whole thing just feels corny and forced. I will say that there are some stunning shots, however.

It's not my cup of tea. Like I said, I would be surprised if it was anywhere near the hit Alice was. I don't see that happening, though.

It's a shame the Oz film isn't getting good reception. I think it would be great to see what the people who brought us Cars Land could do with Oz. Imagine emerging on the other side of the railroad tracks and seeing the Emerald City. Although I'm not sure how grand it could be with the limited space available.

Ehhh, it seems to be getting mixed/leaning to good reviews...but those are just early reviews. We'll just have to wait until march 8th and see if it does well or not.

I'm with everyone else, can we get an original concept, please? Seriously, when was the last time Disney built an attraction that was based on an original concept?

If I have to pick, it would definitely be Lone Ranger. Oz just seems so out of place and weird.

I'd love to ride both of these rides at some point, but I also would love to ride the new Ratatouille ride as I loved, absolutely, the film. I love the original Cars film, so this adds a level of enjoyment for me to Carsland.

Pirates/HM are great rides and "original" concepts, but they are also generic in a way in that they have had to go back and pile on to the paper thin backstory hidden underneath several layers of dust. Films/stories already well known to the general theme park audience can be used to help ground an attraction in reality and add an extra layer of enjoyment.

I get the whole "no franchise" criticism, but when I ride on Big Thunder, or the Matterhorn, I kinda daydream a bit about the thematic elements, and wish that there was "more" to the story than just the hints/elements of a story. In twenty years when folks have started to forget about the Pirates movies, you'll have a whole generation of fans riding Pirates and then re-discovering the films and how they relate to characters in the ride.

I rather wait for third gate to at OZ....I want enough room for a whole inside land not just an attraction

For this space I want more Frontierland and something based off the new mine cart tech would be nice

Even though it is getting mixed reviews, the general movies goers may like it and it may earn a lot of money. Would Disney really listen to the critics and not build an attraction based on any of their movies? I don't think so and I think it is based on the popularity by fans/movie goers and how much money it can make.
