Question about upgrading to an AP

Ok my wifes AP has expired so we need to buy a new one. What we usually do is buy a normal ticket and then upgrade at the park to an AP. But here's my question, if you buy a discounted ticket is that discounted price applied to the AP or is the full value of the ticket applied. Why I ask is because Disney is offering a deal right now where you can purchase a 5 day pass of the child's price of 149 instead of 219. So instead of getting an AP at full price you could get it for about 159. Is this right?

You get credit for the actual price paid (the discounted price), so if you got the 5 day ParkHopper, you would have a $149 credit towards a higher priced AP, so you would have to pay $80 more for a Deluxe AP.

For most folks, the best thing to do is get the ParkHopper first, that way you can get the Early Entry, and not have to worry about blockout dates on your first visit. Once you are sure there is no more blockout dates, and that you have used your Early Entry, you can go ahead and upgrade to allow you to get the 10% discount at DtD and food in the park.

Hi there!

After letting my AP expire long ago, I am interested in renewing. however, when I go to the site, it only lists options for Premium and Deluxe, not to two that cost 119 and 149. They say it's not an option as soon as I click on the link. So it's there, just not available for on-line purchase which also means I can't see the black out dates.

Are the black-out dates listed anywhere else? I tried finindg a thread on here but all of the mentions of the blackout dates refer to the disney site which puts me back my question.

A couple of points about Disneyland.com

You can find the blockout dates at...

On the left side of the page, they have links to the different Blockout calendars by AP type, they open another web page in a pdf format.

As for being able to buy any type of AP, once you go to the ticket section on Disneyland.com, you will see a small oval saying Southern California Residents, click on that, then enter your zip code. Once you do that, it will allow you to purchase a SoCal or SoCal Select AP.

I was able to access the blockout dates with no problem.

For some reason when I click on the link I was using for buying the passes for So Cal it says, "There are no products available online for the type of tickets you requested. Please choose from the available ticket categories below".

However, when I clicked on the link from the original link I went to that you provided, it works!
