World of Color if you're Colorblind...

So, I've been interested in this for a while, as I may be taking a friend soon to the Disneyland Resort for the first time and he is colorblind (I believe the yellow/green type)...

I know so much of World of Color's hype, as its name implies, are the thousands of vibrant colors that the fountains play with... I personally love this about the show. So my question would be, if you are colorblind, do you still find the "colors" of this show enjoyable? Or what excites you most about this show?...

Re: World of Color if you're Colorblind...

I am colorblind as most men are in the blue/red range but I still enjoy WOC I just see colors differently than most people. However, the colors in WOC are very vibrant and strong that I see them really good. I found out a few years ago that I had cataracts on both eyes and when I had surgery to replace my corneas I started to see colors better but still have trouble telling shades of color. Your friend should enjoy the show but probably see the colors differently than you do, unless he is totally color blind and sees only black, white and grey.

I feel like colorblind guests would still enjoy the show because it is still a great overall presentation. It's very visual, obviously, but not every aspect of it revolves around specific use of color. There is the water projections, fire, the usage of the coaster and the fun wheel, etc..

Regardless of being color blind, like another poster said the show is so visually stunning that it won't make a difference either way I think.

I have never thought of that, but they can stil see some of the colours, so I don't think it is all bad.
The new Star Wars plot summery:

Episode 7: Luke discovers that Darth Vader is not his father, and goes on a search for his real father

Episode 8: Darth Vader is resurrected and goes on Jerry Springer, claiming he is Luke and Leia's father

Episode 9: Princes Leia is not Luke's sister, making him furious (we all know why...).

Besides seeing it differently than the non-colorblind individual, they might enjoy it. Well, unless they don't care for Disney music and movies, that could cause problems too. Most colorblind people still see colors, but their perception of hues and shades is different. My colorblind husband has seen the show a number of times and has never complained once about not being able to see properly. Now if only he would stop insisting his grey shirt is green.....

Re: World of Color if you're Colorblind...

A common misconception is that colorblind people cannot see color. They can, in fact, they just see certain colors the wrong way. The most common is red/green defficiency (which I have a bit of) in which it's difficult to distinguish between those two specific colors.

That being said, a colorblind individual's enjoyment (or possible lack thereof) of World of Color won't be much affected by their colorblindness.

If you're curious, you can upload a photo of World of Color to this site and see how it looks to people with various forms of colorblindness.

Re: World of Color if you're Colorblind...

I saw the name of this forum and couldn't stop laughing because I am colorblind myself. I mix up blue/purple and green/yellow and World of Color is my favorite show at the resort. The LED lights are so strong that its easy to see which color is which. Also, a big part of what makes the show so magical is the soundtrackand that obviously has no involvement with sight. So I'm pretty sure your friend will have no problem with his colorblindness interfering with his enjoyment of the show.

Not unlike the claustrophobic who can't ride Nemo, maybe Disney should set up a special room for the colorblind, and provide LSD?
