If there is no Disney and no Disneyland?

Then the world will be a pretty dull place. There would be no theme park that will revolutionize the amusement park industry. Many cartoon shorts and animated films that changed the world will not be there. Lack of inspiration and imagination and no recreated films based on the Grimm fairy tales. If there is no Disney, then those animated films based on those stories will be much darker in tone, violent, true to the stories, and a sadder story.

Also, many amusement parks will be the same. Though, some will be clean and most is still ghetto and dirty, but that's not the case. Since Walt Disney himself was inspired from another theme park in the Netherlands called Efteling which led to the basis of Disneyland as well asTivoli Gardens in Denmark. Both of them of course are older than Disneyland, but in an alternate reality, Efteling will be the Disneyland, the theme park that changed the world and inspired millions. Those two parks are clean and well kempt as well as having attractions that is similar to Disney.

But, the real question is: What if there is no Walt Disney and Disneyland?

Re: If there is no Disney and no Disneyland?

My childhood just took a hit thinking about it.

It would definitely be a lot different...if Disney didn't exist, cross off Princess bedrooms, Princess dress up parties, Disney stores, Disney memories, Disney classics, no Wonderful World of Disney on Sundays [back in the day], etc.

It would be a dark and desolate place...

Or not. It would just be different...I grew up on Disney. Disneyland's site would probably developed into homes, maybe even a mega mall...or it would just remain orange groves.

I am thankful for Walt and his vision...

Many, many people would have missed out on one of the most important unifiers of their lives.

A whole lot more of lonely.

Anaheim would not be as large as it is now.

Things could be much better. We simply do not know what the alternate would be like.

Walt Disney had a great effect on a lot of things, around the globe. Take those away and something else would of happened.

I wouldn't say there would be no recreation or retelling of old fairy tales, but they wouldn't produce such iconic characters we grow up with and meet with in a carefully themed park. Walt himself certainly allowed adults to dip into their imagination and stay young at heart, and this is prevalent, no 'nessecary', in his entire legacy. Not having that, the world would certainly be dull(er).

It's hard to say what could have happened. There were, and are, so many great minds out there... I firmly believe that another genius of design would have taken the reigns.

Personally, I believe that Disneyland is a fixed point in time.

    It just had to happen.

If there was no Disneyland then Knotts would be the huge theme park everyone looked up to. When Walt Disney was coming up with Disneyland he made numerous trips to Knotts, observing things and asking lots of questions. Walt Disney looked up to Knotts and as a matter of fact Walt Disney and Walter Knotts were very good friends, no doubt due to this common desire of providing entertainment to the masses.

I tried to think about this. My mind wouldn't let me. Nope, just can't picture it.

Re: If there is no Disney and no Disneyland?

Wow, people would have gone to beaches and parks and gotten exercise and read more books.
    JUST KIDDING!
I would have about 70 very different days from the ones where I got to spend the entire day at Disneyland giving her my nearly undivided attention while my wife got a day off. These were some of the very best days of both of our lives, and I can't wait till Sunday when we get another. Thanks, Walt!

It's entirely possible that someone with the exact qualities and potential was born just 5 years before him, but was never fortunate enough to make his presence or brilliance known. I actually think it's very likely that such a person or persons existed, but selfishly I'm thankful that none of them ever accomplished what Walt did, because then maybe Walt never would have done anything we remember him for.

You know, that scenario does exist in a parallel universe, according to Dr. Michio Kaku.
