Mine train ran on tracks similar to the Disneyland Railroad, where BTMRR runs on tubular steel tracks. (roller coaster.
You can see one of the old Mine trains across from Tom Sayers Island near where Cascade peak once was.

Is there any way to know ahead of time what the "Limited Time Magic" is for any given week?

I think CarsLand turns on around the official sunset time, which you can look up in an almanac or online.

Is Main Street the only place to get a celebratory button (first visit, birthday, etc) or can you also get one somewhere in DCA?

You can get them in the following places:
Main Street City Hall in Disneyland - you can get them out front if someone is manning the stairs, or you can wait in line and go inside

Toy Story Parking Lot - you can get them where you purchase park tickets, they usually only have birthday buttons though

Guest Services at DCA - you can obtain them there, all of the same ones they have at City Hall in Disneyland

    Thanks!

Also, is it normal to wear the buttons on pin lanyards? I think it would be fun to wear my graduation button every time I go to Disney to remember the special event, but I never see anyone doing that.

Celebration buttons are meant to be worn the day that you are celebrating in the park. Cast members will say things like "Happy Birthday", "Congrats on your graduation", etc. If you wore it every time, you could have cast members saying these things when you aren't celebrating the special event. I have seen more people wearing them on their lanyards as of lately, but I am guessing it's only on the day they are celebrating. I do see people with a collection of pins on their backpack at Disneyland, so that might be an alternative location to consider.

I've also been told you can get celebration pins at World of Disney in Downtown Disney.

Anyone know if ou can use Disney gift cards at Grand Californian (for your hotel stay), Carthay Circle, or Club 33? Curious if it's worth buying a bunch at Target and using the credit card to save 5%.

    Thanks!

Disney gift cards can be used at all Disneyland Resort Hotels for both payment towards hotel room nights or purchases made at the hotel. They are valid at the Grand Californian.
Carthay Circle does accept Disney gift cards. Club 33 also accepts Disney gift cards.

Can I get a birthday button even if it's 3 or 4 days before my birthday? We will be at the parks near my birthday but not ON it.

Yes you can. You can get a birthday button at any time. They do not ask for proof of your birthday when you ask for a birthday button. Many people celebrate their birthday close to the actual date and not on the actual date at Disneyland.
