Why not have Disney buy the Lakeside Golf Club (the one you can see from Universal Studios) and build Avatar Land on it? That's one way to stick it to Universal.

They plan on an Avatar Land AND a Marvel Land? Where do they plan to put all this? They have no room! They're surrounded by hotels.

Avatar Land is not coming to California, and neither is Marvel, right now at least. Marvel could come bug I can bet Disney has no plans of putting Avatar Land in California, thank God.

Marvel is coming to Disneyland...eventually. They've been planning on it for so long. I haven't heard anything about them changing their minds. I'm glad Avatar isn't coming to DL. Avatar would prolly fit in better with the Magic Kingdom in FL.

I keep hearing rumors that the Avatar deal maybe falling apart over creative differences. So I don't think it's something we will have to worry about. I wouldn't mind Marvel in the California Adventure. But that won't happen until Universal loses the theme parks rights to those characters.

Universal's deal with Marvel only applies to Theme Parks east of the Mississippi. Disney can do whatever they want with Marvel in Disneyland.

I'm worried though...would putting in Avatar and/or Marvel into the park(s), kill Walt's dream?

Walt Disney said Disneyland would continue to grow and change. What exactly are you referring to when you say his dream?

Did putting in Indiana Jones and Star Wars properties kill his dream?

Could not agree with you more!

Having an Avatar based land is potentially cool, but not at Disney and seriously, if you think about it, the film was somewhat of a phenomenon, but only for a minute. It doesn't have the lasting power and iconic appeal that Star Wars and Indiana Jones have, the only other non-Disney films that made their way into the parks. And as Pizza said, if anything not directly Disney should be added to DL it oughta at least be something from an acquired property to keep it in the family as much as possible. I'm also down for an original attraction idea, especially seeing as we haven't had one at the Disney parks for a long time.

Avatar Land? Navi Land? IF this happens why not just call it Pandora?

for the same reason Cars Land isn't called Radiator Springs--it's all about marketing and selling merchandise. If someone isn't familiar with the name Pandora, just the movie 'Avatar', then Disney is afraid that they'll somehow ignore the new attraction and accompanying stores altogether and not spend money.

I think Disney's line of thinking is that if they don't slap you in the face with the franchise, then people won't look into it. To be fair, it's so reasonable to think everyone would ignore Cars Land and not shop there if it was called something more obscure and detailed....it's so easy to miss!

    Re: AVATAR Land at Disneyland

Once upon a time Disney built a great new attraction, it anchored a land. The attraction was so great the exported it to another resort, just the ride, not the whole land. Soarin.

Avatarland could work the same way, build it in DAK and bring the big attraction west.
