Why is Tokyo's Splash Mountain a lot more lush than ours?

In general, tokyo's Critter Country has the U.S. counterparts beat hands down, but looking at the mountain itself it has a lot more vegetation and gives a much more "real" impression. At first I thought that it might be because Japan is more humid and it tends to rain more there, but Orlando is also quite humid and rainy and their Splash Mountain is even more bare.
Orlando's is probably more bare for it to thematically fit in to Frontierland, but Tokyo's is located just as close to Westernland and it's surroundings as it is in our Disneyland.

Here are some pics for comparison:

When it comes to Disneyland, I disagree. Yeah, DisneySEA is amazing, but in my opinion the only thing that TDL has done better (apart from pooh) is Critter Country.

Probably because ours was built first. usually designs get improved the second or third time around.

They did it to see how long it would take someone to complain on an internet board.

Although, I will say it looks somehow less American to me with the greenery. With it, it looks more like an Asian place. Just my interpretation.

I was actually going to say more European, but you might have a point.

It's not so much a complaint as curiosity. I was mainly wondering if there was a conceptual reason for it, like maybe their version of Critter Country-South was actually located somewhere else than ours, like the way Orlando's is supposed to be located more to the west.

I think they were done on purpose. The Tokyo one has that Japanese teagarden greenery feel to it. The Orlando one looks to fit in with the Fronteirland surroundings. The one here fits in just fine to transition from NoS to Critter County. I don't think that the one here inferior.

The thing is that I don't think that the plan was for it to look very Japanese though. I've read that when they first designed the park they were very concious about maintaining the Americana feel. Less so for example than when it came to designing Disneyland Paris.

I would say everything built after TDL's original opening (1983) is superior (Toon Town, Big Thunder, Critter Country, Monsters Inc, etc.)

Japan failed it's people by exporting all the honda lawnmowers. Only in the US are they able to maintain the landscaping because they access to such machinery.
