Another 24 Hour Disneyland Event

I was talking to a friend of mine and he mentioned that there would be a 24 hour event at Disneyland from May 24 to May 25th. He also mentions that it happens to fall on the same day at a media event, Grad Nite, and the opening for the "Mickey and the Magical Map" show at the Fantasyland theater.

What are your questions, comments, concerns, worries, wishes? Would you do this, or do this again?

Has this been confirmed or is it still just a rumor?

I went last year and would avoid Disneyland at all costs at another 24 hour event. I went because March 1st is my boyfriends birthday and found out after the fact that it was going to be open 24 hours. At first I thought it was cool, but by 11:30 the lines were ridiculously long, fast passes long gone and minimume 1.3-2 hours for every ride. You had to shuffle along the walkways taking baby steps because there were huge THRONGS of people. We ended up bailing a little before midnight and headed back to the hotel and went back the next day when it was much less crowded and much more enjoyable.

It's just a rumor for right now. It hasn't been announced officially by Disney yet, but that is what I heard.

I'd check it out. The 25th is a Saturday and 3-level blockout for passes, so could be more manageable.

There was another 24-hour rumor thread recently and basically if it's not your only day there and/or you arrive early enough in the day it can be an enjoyable experience. The early morning hours at first opening are very light. If it's for the premier of the Magical Map show then it almost sounds like a repeat of Captain Eo's continuous open first weekend.

Seems like every month we have one of these rumor threads pop up. Until I hear a official announcement I wouldn't buy into it.

Last year disney say that they will move gradnite to DCA it will not longer be at DL.

Wouldn't it be more like a 36 hour event? I mean, if the gates open at 0800, are they going to close them at 0800 the next morning or just keep it open until normal closing hours that night?

Hmm this would be nice as a late birthday trip for me,but I don't think the "black-outs" would have such an impact as I would like to believe.

But at least its on a weekend since allot of people complained the last one was on a weekday.

The only thing that has been "Confirmed" by Disney and involves the park staying open later than usual is on September 13. That's this year's Friday the 13th and because it is 2013, Disney is going to stay open until the "13th hour" which is 1 in the morning. It was one of the evnts announced when Limited Time Magic was announced so it cab roughly be confirmed, but it can be changed/cancelled.

Last year they opened early, at 6 am, and stayed open until 6 am the next day. They closed for a few hours and then re-opened for the day again at normal opening time.

Regardless if this particular rumor is correct - it's an interesting thing to think about. The concept of the 24 parties is really great and being in Disneyland for sunrise would be surreal, but the last one seems to have been horrific for a lot of guests AND CMs. The only way to really do it justice might be to hard ticket it.

From what I have heard about the 24-hour event that happened last year I don't think I would ever give it a shot. I would rather go on a normal day.
