Back last April there was a lot of construction going on in the walkway heading to the space over the French Market,
The walls of the walkway were gutted and replaced in areas, and there were rumors of an expansion of Club 33 to the space above the French Market
This is that second floor space (currently used for storage, such as Club 33 "wine cellar" as seen from Club 33).
The rumor was that the construction would take place for five months starting in February.
Recently received a mailer from Club 33 stating, in brief, that the they are "aware" of the rumors involving the planned expansion, and are still working on the "scope" and "duration" of said project. The rumors were for a Jazz club in this space, the stage which could double for presentations, and that the Trophy Room would be gutted to expand the kitchen, however, now they are advertising to members who might want to book the Trophy Room for large gatherings as this Club 33 dining room is often empty, and occassionally used for corporate lunch meetings.
Seems like they want to see if they can whip up interest in the Trophy Room before permanently removing it, historical, yes, but also very dated and unused. Maybe DLR's new president put the brakes on this project for now?
There were also rumors involving a Haunted Mansion restaurant not exclusive to just members, but which would be open to general guests on a limited-reservation basis and would be themed in the flavor of the Haunted Mansion, and include some HMH animatronics (perhaps an homage to Tim Burton's classic film) which would periodically be activated during dinner/lunch.
Or perhaps some sort of Fantasmic Dessert Buffet will return to New Orleans second story if the renovation is complete . . . only time will tell.
