I wouldn't really use this to describe it to someone who hadn't heard of it, but I like,
"Disneyland is the place where the greatest American myths reside."
Which is actually an out-of-context quote from an Imagineer in Mouse Under Glass (the context being a defense of bringing in outside characters like Indiana Jones.) And I know the "myths" represented there aren't all American in origin, but they're ones that are prominent in the American conciousness.
Anyhow, I think it sounds better than "Disneyland is about turning movies into rides..."
