Cool The perfect sponsor for Space Mountain.

    SpaceX

The only commercial space company in the world. Now has the exclusive contract to re-supply the International Space Station. Founder Elon Musk wants to design and build spacecraft that will ferry colonists to Mars.

    It's a natural.

There should be a sticky thread called "This Day in Disney History." The company has a long history and this would be a good way to acknowledge it. Walt was born 112 years ago; that's quite a chunk of American history and culture.

Yet Disney has taken me safely into space on its own for decades including to Mars.

    Disney should sponsor it.

A SpaceX/Space Mountain sponsorship would be fun, but I think it would make more sense for SpaceX to sponsor a STEM fields exhibit within Innoventions. Since SpaceX doesn't really sell any products (not counting hats and t-shirts) to the public unless you have the kind of deep pockets to launch your own satellite what makes sense for their business would be sponsoring something that would inspire the next generation of rocket scientists and astronauts that they'll be hiring in the future. Seeing a Dragon capsule thats been to outer space, a Mars habitat, and a Falcon 9 engine would be just the thing to bring crowds back to that corner of Tomorrowland.

Red Bull. They're the new sponsors of the space race, what with their sponsorship of that crazy guy who recently did the Atmospheric Jump.

Space X would be throwing money down the drain and associating their serious projects with theme park rides.

In fact, due to its popularity as a Disney ride, people don't take monorails seriously any more as a potential transportation option when deciding to build light rail or subway lines.

Space X or Virgin Galactic would make interesting sponsors. However I feel their products are out of reach of most Disneyland guests. Besides it would be like having a white water rafting company sponsor Grizzly River Run, it would just remind the guests the ride is not the real thing.

Maybe Elon Musk or Richard Branson could work out a sponsorship deal where they put in some displays about their space travel programs, but at the same time get to promote their other businesses that might have more mass appeal such as Musk's solar panel and electric cars (although the cars are pricey too) or Branson's airlines.

Space Mountain doesn't need a sponsor. The last sponsor they had was FedEx. Don't you remember they tried to make it like it was a galactic shipping station? Stinkerooo.
