additionally, one of my biggest gripes about DLR is a lack of non park experiences. I never go to a park more than I say in a row and love enjoying my resort or other activities. I am just shocked at no Resort Hotel additions or DTD. Even more than the lack of plans for further DCA or DL expansion.
Considering all the variety SoCal alone has to offer, let alone the entire state, why would it matter if you can't spend one whole week at the DLR? There are so many other things one could do besides nothing but Disney for an entire week.

You're honestly shocked about the absence of hotel additions and DTD expansions when compared to WDW. Look at their size compared to ours.

Yeah that was the other point I was making in another post. One of the reasons I love DLR and the other resorts worldwide is they are in cities/areas that are just amazing places to see on their own. I LIKE the fact when someone goes to Japan for the first time just to go to TDR, they have a few days to at least see Tokyo and the surrounding areas. Disney is what got them there, but Japan is really what they will remember the most even if they dont realize it at the time. And I think for tourist who comes to DLR, its great they spend 3-4 days at the resort and the rest of the week hitting the beaches, a few museums, Hollywood, other SoCal theme parks, whatever. But yes, I just dont see the need for someone wanting to stay 1-2 weeks just in theme parks if there are other things to do with their time? Dont get me wrong, I know personal friends who stay for weeks at WDW, but I dont think that has to be the norm at every Disney resort because its never been before. And even then there are people who DO stay weeks at DLR as well...but cushion their time around the activities I said before. WDW is really the only place on the planet you can get that experience. And since its in Orlando, not exactly Paris or L.A., I think its needed lol.

My shock at not seeing another DLR resort hotel isnt based on WDW but on DLR hotel occupancy rates. Those occupancy rates point to the fact that building another hotel would be a huge money maker for the resort.

It just hit me that there might be a walk around Iron Man there as well. Do others think that will happen? A meet and greet with the man of steel himself? That would be cool and the kids would love it.

I wouldn't say it had nothing to do...considering how many people LOVE the Spiderman ride...Disney wants Marvel and Star Wars because of how they can make more movies...more toys..and theme parks rides to draw people in...then when you exit the ride you buy more Marvel toys..lol

Theme park attractions are the slowest means of generating revenue. That's why it has taken so long. That is why the whole Pixar thing of films and attractions opening close together never happened. The parks are the bottom of the franchise barrel. They get investment as needed only with the most financially viable products. Films will make more money in a much shorter time frame. Toys will get moved in much higher volume at Walmart than any theme park.

they could use the space designated in Gardenwalk for timeshare resort or the 2 spaces designated for boutique hotels that Disney was going to handle the operations.

Also, the east esplanade has been heavily rumored to eventually have a hotel, as well as the area south of Paradise Pier Hotel.
there are any number of areas.

Okay, now this may not have to do with the thread, but what if WDI put a Howard Johnson's Restaurant in Hollywood land, particularly in one of those fake buildings to the left (at end of 'block')? Not only would that fit the 1930's theme, but who doesn't love Howard Johnson! Doesn't Disney own a motel of their's anyway???
