Re: Haunted Mansion Holiday for 2006?

Yeah, that I'm not sure on. This thread was the first I've heard of Le Bat closing and merchandise being pulled from the shelves. And like everyone else, I would absolutely hate to see that happen

There's also the chance I'm totally mistaken. Movie deals and rights are a very very tricky thing, I just wanted to point out that even though that's what I believe to be the case, I'm not 100% sure.

No problem, I'm just still a little shook up. I personly would not want to have HMH all year long, this is a great seasonal touch. I agree that there has not been the updates like when Oogie was added it felt that it had sliped some but it was a very popular attraction. I have many non-AP friends and family that schedualed there Disney trips over the last few years to conencide with and focused around Haunted Mansion Holiday. Just like IASW holiday overlay it is a plus for the holidays. As for Le Bat this is very shocking that the store would close, hopeing that it will reopen as something in the future, due to the high volume sold at that location. My personal hope is that it would reopen with similar merch as the Leota Cart at WDW. They get some of the best HM merch.

I'm actually glad to hear this "news". I'm sick of all the NBC merch. The movie was great and all but isnt it time to move on? Just my opinion...

Amen! I liked the Nightmare Before Christmas before Jack and the merchandise became a symbol for every kid with his or her parent's credit card and access to a Hot Topic. Good grief kiddies, if thats your only proof that your dark and like Halloween you need to go back to the drawing board!

As far as the ride, I think it just time to make a year round dark ride somewhere in the vain and style of the movie. Don't know where or how but it certainly would be nice to represent it year round and for all the Pixar-haters- at least its not Pixar... *ringshot*

Is it CONFIRMED that the store will shut down? If so, I'll have to go in this week and get a few things. Where is all the merchandise going to go once it's closed?

As for HMH, I heard it won't be coming back this year because apparently Tim only had a five year contract with Disney to have NBC at DL. I don't know, we'll see. As for Tim not liking it at DL, I don't know...I read an interview though that in 2003, Tim hadn't even seen what HMH looked like??

If they do a HMH this year, I can only hope they do it AFTER Halloween, not before. To me there is something wrong with fixing a Spook House for Christmas when Halloween hasn't even come yet. It totally wrecks Halloween if you can't have the HM (the original one, not holiday) for it.

    I absolutly agree.

Dont get me wrong, i love NBC its just im tired of it. The whole NBC thing needs to go away for a long time so that people will forget about it. Sheesh.

I also agree... The merch is tired. Id feel differently if there was constantly new stuff going through there but its always the same old -ish.
On the other hand I really enojy HMH and wish the would add/change/update it on a yearly basis. Even if its something simple.

Re: Haunted Mansion Holiday for 2006?

IF there is no Haunted Mansion Holiday this year, that will
certainly leave a big gap in the Christmas festivities, and
even more the Halloween festivities (what little DL actually
    had).

With all the Jack O'lanterns and spiderweb candelabras on the
outside of the mansion, to all the additional Jack o'lanterns,
skulls, spiders, bones, and man eating plants inside the mansion
made it all the more fun for BOTH Halloween and Christmas.
And this has been GREAT as just a seasonal makeover.

The only way they should give this up is if the bring back
    the Country Bear Christmas Show!

As for the merchandise in LeBat enRouge (spelling?)
Yes, it became overdone in Nightmare Merchandise.
This was suppose to be the new Villains Store. THAT
is something that is completely missing from the store.
It did originally have some Haunted Mansion merchandise
and a few other t-shirts of some villains, BUT they really
need to have a variety of Villain Merchandise.

Also, recently they started closing off the courtyard area between the
Pirate shop and LeBat enRouge, and turning it into a merchandise
area, THIS is something I am TOTALLY OPPOSED TO! the courtyard
area is VERY important to the themeing of New Orleans Square and
the couple of courtyard areas should be preserved at all costs.

Yea but it is now more like the real New Orleans with "merchants" in every corner, nook, and alley. Now if only they can get the sewer back there to smell correctly.

Re: Haunted Mansion Holiday for 2006?

NMBC will be back this year... well Haunted Mansion is scheduled to go down for "Holiday Install" in September, so unless they have come up with a new Holiday makeover NMBC will be back.

As for anything new, they've got plans for more changes (nothing huge, along the scale of the 03 Oogie stuff) but it's really a matter of how strong/soft they think attendance will be for Fall 06. Disneyland didn't need to freshen up the NMBC show for 05... it was thought that the 50th would (and proved to) be more than enough.

Re: Haunted Mansion Holiday for 2006?

My only request for HMH is to add more Lock, Shock and Barrel. They've been my favorite characters from the film since '93 and are used cheaply at the end with the stupid mirrors.

They need to remove those "scarols" too. So annoying.

I just got back from DL and talked to the CMs in Le Bat who told me the store is indeed closing down soon (they said not next week?) and all merchandise left will be shipped off to a warehouse (maybe Character Warehouse?). The CMs in Disneyana told me that their NBC stuff will soon be gone too.
