NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *takes a breath*OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOO!
*sniffles* Sad sad sad day! Give me back my pole Disney! You gave me a buzz and a woody but I want my pole! I loved this gag. I hope they would shut the ride down for a refurb here in the next ten years and retrofit the queue and replace all the original tricks.
Then they could go inside the ride and work on some of the "blander" sections of the ride, come on the dart room, two dimensional walls with black lights and painted figures, Disney you can do better. The rat thing is ok, but i think they should retrofit the seats with the "rat tail" effect from HISTA. In the spider room, I have a great idea- droop dozens and dozens of lines of fishing wire, cheap basic fishing wire. In the dark when one of these things drags against your head, damn straight you'll be startled!
My youngest daughter will be happy about this. When we went the first time, I pushed the pole and the spikes starting coming down. She wasn't too thrilled about that because she was up on my shoulders and to this day she is convinced that she was going to be skewered.
I really hope they bring this back. I hate when they can't get something to work, so they just rip it out and hope nobody notices or cares. It's an important detail! It needs to be there! They should be ADDING things like this!
Jeez. Imagineering has really taken a nosedive.
"Say, uh, ever hear of the devil's paint pots? Real mystery of the desert. Bubblin' pots of mud in all kinds of colors."
Since Indy opened in 1994 the pole has been removed and replaced many many many times.
This is also true...I have seen this before actually. People shake it pretty violently so I can see how it breaks down. I just say shut the queue down so they can rebuild it in such a way as to be better divide the fastpassers from the regular line instead of at the beginning, its a waste of the best themed queue in the park!
Stepping on the diamonds actaully do something??? I stepped on them many times, nothing happens.
I only remember seeing the bamboo pole in operation a couple times. But yes, I think the spikes did come down/rise up.
Next time they shut down the ride for refurb, it's the perfect time to reconfigure the line, somehow. Or somehow have the FP/SR line get their own video or still go through the film room but still able to go to the elevators.
BTW, was it Disney lawyers that make people watch the "safety video" or was it a US law?
"You're not thinking fourth dimensionally!" -Back to the Future
"With this place, I wanted to give them something real, something that wasn't an illusion, something they could see and touch. An aim devoid of merit."
The pole is just under refurbishment from all the stupid people tugging on it. The same thing happens to the guy in the well that is digging. People pull as hard as they can when all it takes is two fingers.
According to what I heard in the past is that the diamonds would raise an inch out of the floor when you stepped on them but you all know that is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
