Non-Disney music you can imagine being used in Disneyland

You know how some of the music in Disneyland didn't start out as Disney music - from old standards to Broadway showtunes -but somehow fits. Is there any music that you hear and instantly think - "this would sound great in the park!" ?

This is a symphonic suite of songs from the Broadway musical Ragtime (Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty) that I can imagine being used in a special Fourth of July fireworks show:

Here's another one I can see being used for fireworks or some kind of nighttime spectacular. It's "Take Me to the World" from the ultra-obscure 1966 television musical Evening Primrose (Stephen Sondheim). This version is from a 2001 studio recording starring Theresa McCarthy and renowned California Screamin' carnival barker Neil Patrick Harris. I've directed the link to the soaring end of the song for my purposes here, but the whole song is great .

Of course I wouldn't expect the average Disneyland guest to know the original context - it actually works better if they don't, considering what happens to the characters after this song. But I think the lyrics could be used to mean something else.

And I can hear this as ambient music on Main Street or Paradise Pier:

(Though again, probably works better in DL if you don't know the context of the original song ).

BTW, I'd like to hear more original, written for the parks music too

Almost any 40's music reminds me of Disneyland, so I could see it fitting in the parks pretty well.

As I sit here reading this, I'm listening to the Swing station on Pandora. For me, Disneyland is just synonymous with this type of music. Ragtime, Swing, Standards and even Dixieland Jazz. Of course it doesn't hurt that both Disneyland and DCA have several lands devoted to these genres of music. I can not even think of music that would be better off in either park. The 30's and 40's just knew good, classic music that is incredibly relevant today.

Very much agree with you both! I listen to the 40's station on Sirius or the Andrews Sisters station on Pandora all the time, and they both put me in a Disneyland frame of mind. Just plain good music!

Simon Smith and the Amazing Dancing Bear by Randy Newman. Also, Dayton Ohio 1903 also by Randy. Maybe Kooks by Bowie. All for DCA of course.

I always thought that the Small World song could be replaced by Imagine.
"You can cut me off from the civilized world. You can incarcerate me with two moronic cellmates. You can torture me with your thrice daily swill, but you cannot break the spirit of a Winchester. My voice shall be heard from this wilderness and I shall be delivered from this fetid and festering sewer."

I personally like this one, not sure if you would count it "officially" as Disney, but if its not, then I think this theme here would make a great piece for fireworks

    But that's just imo.

    This is scary.

After I posted the OP, I remembered that I forgot to put "Dayton, Ohio 1903". (Though for Disneyland instead of DCA. That song always makes me think of Main Street.) You read my mind!

    (Nilsson's cover: )

I'll have to check out those other songs .

I often think music from the Halo video games would make great background music in Tomorrowland. Besides, doesn't Tomorrowland use music from several non-Disney Science Fiction outings already?

Also I noticed Brian Setzer was used in during the Cars Land Holiday music loop. I think we could use him a lot more in the parks...

Definitely Jazz. Especially Sentimental Journey, which ought to be played along Main Street.

Beach Boys music, as it was the orighinal music for Paradise Pier, should come back within the new loop
The new Star Wars plot summery:

Episode 7: Luke discovers that Darth Vader is not his father, and goes on a search for his real father

Episode 8: Darth Vader is resurrected and goes on Jerry Springer, claiming he is Luke and Leia's father

Episode 9: Princes Leia is not Luke's sister, making him furious (we all know why...).
