Re: Grad nights....Bad time to visit Disneyland or California Adventure?

I was there tonight and it was CRAZY! I'm sure the Wed and Thurs nights aren't as bad, but a Friday night plus Grad Night is busy with a lot of loud, obnoxious people. I can only imagine how much worse it will be when you throw the 24 hour event in as well!

How about Friday during daytime? Will it be that bad also? We'll be visiting next Thursday and Friday. Will be there on rope drop until afternoon. I don't think we'll stay until night time, or perhaps we'll just come back for Fantasmic.

Re: Grad nights....Bad time to visit Disneyland or California Adventure?

I just endured a week of Grad Nights during my trip. It is really annoying. I had terrible experiences on Pirates, Haunted Mansion, and Star Tours. The grads act like monkeys. It's embarrassing.

Lesson learned to never go in May.

Yesterday was awful. It was really crowded, there were tons of school groups along with the grads there for Grad Night, and rides kept unexpectedly shutting down which increased the foot traffic because people were trying to figure out what to do. The rides that were open had long wait times, too. I wound up leaving around 2pm and came back later for Fantasmic.

Re: Grad nights....Bad time to visit Disneyland or California Adventure?

I was there last night, and it was no more annoying than any other day at the resort. Just more kids, but the only ones I found annoying were the group who decided it was a good idea to stop and hold some sort of conversation at the entrance of Tomorrowland by the rocks. Other than that, it was find. Go in with the mentality that it will be crowded and there will be more kids and you might not get to do everything you wanted, you'll be fine. I think people rip on the grads way too much. The most annoying people at the parks tend to be adults. Because they should have brains and they don't. The grads actually humor me, because it's their last bit of bliss before they go into the Hell that is the world!

I can handle the crowds and the rowdiness. The part that makes me frustrated is what I call the "Magic Mountain" effect. When you have a large amount of younger people, they tend to have less downtime and just jump from attraction to attraction making lines super long. Compare that to a family who takes their time, watches parades and shows and spends less time in line.
In the quest for quality, I have no problem with the characters footing the bill.

Don't go to grad night. The people going are just...

Look, I belong in that older teenager demographic that Grad Night aims for, and I absolutely hate them because of the people that go to them. So avoid grad nights if you can.

We will be there for a couple grad nights next month.

I find teenagers far less annoying than strollers and toddlers, so I'm thinking we will be ok.

Yeah there is no more "grad night" per say anymore. It's more like Grad all day long for a couple months. Packs of roaming teenie boppers with matching shirts and large back paks filled with god knows what. My favorite is when they sit on the guard/hand rails and hit everyone in the head with said pak as they slide down the rails in line. Hop'd up on energy drinks, candy and mouths like sailors. Good luck!

Two of my three kids are turning 17 and 18 this summer, and they'll be with me. I'm immune to teenagers.
