As for the Skyway, it would probably be an operations nightmare if rebuilt. Safety concerns, legal hurdles, windy days, rude guests spitting on other guests, almost anything would threaten the Skyway's longevity in 21st century Disneyland. Although it pains me to admit it, this is one ride I would rather have in Yesterland.
Thats what I get for skimming. Sorry about that!

And yet, OSHA and DOSH had problems with "Soarin'", "Screaming", and "Space Mountain", all of which opened, or in the case of Space, RE-opened/was re-built in the 21st century. Although I know that the issue with Space had to do with the maintenance worker falling. So who knows? It almost seems like Disney is being held to a different standard then some of these other parks/ attractions. I have yet to hear of any other parks having multiple rides closed by these agencies the way it happened at Disney this year.

I agree that the newer technology would prevent jumping/falling/spitting etc.

I loved this ride and the view of Disneyland from above (It would still be a unique ride from those at Sea World etc. because of the view) - and it was a fun way to travel from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland. I would love for them to bring this ride back!

I'd rather see a Skyway to the parking lot.

Just come on over to Santa Cruz. They've got skybuckets on the boardwalk.

They were closed when I went in January, so was 1/2 of the amusement park. Not sure why.

Weather right? Most parks in California are seasonal other than Disney, SW and USH.

Well, 1/2 the park was open (including the Giant Dipper) but not the skyway.

It was such a nice day, there were sunbathers, swimmers and a surf competition going on in the water, between the boardwalk and the lighthouse.

I agree. The park would be afraid someone would sue them for falling out or the cable breaking. I have fond memories of riding across the park in the gondola

Yep. No one here has touched on the real reason they're gone..........I blame the closure of popular C and D ticket level attractions squarely on the Pay-One-Price admission.

You see, when Disney was making most of their money off the individual attractions themselves, they would actually suffer closing an attraction such as The SkyWay. If it was taking in $1,400 a day after expenses(numbers made up for illustrative purposes), by closing it back in the day of ticket books, Disney costs themselves a 1/2 of a million bucks.....every year!

...but with the POPA(pay-one-price-admission), Disney loses nothing closing the Skyway, and in fact saves a few bucks on maintaining it. No one is going to stop going to Disneyland just because of the closure of one, medium quality attraction....so it's a no-brainer for Disney, they got your money at the front gate, so close away.

But now we have a park that is, if ever so slightly, a little less magical then it was before the removal of the Skyway, Peoplemover, Mission to Mars, Country Bear Jamboree, Keel Boats, Motor Boats, etc, etc.

Half a century late the attraction would have 50 year newer technology. No problem with OSHA or ADA.
    Totally agree!
But do we need the tour of rooftops?
Depends. If you're an AP holder who goes every other week.....probably not. But for those who are only visiting once every few years or less, there are so many wonderful and magical things to draw ones eye from up there that it's unlikely they'd notice the prosaic and ordinary during a 5 minute flight.

Yes, so does Sea World in San Diego and the San Diego Zoo.

But what they don't have is a bird's eye view of Disneyland.
