This is my own hang up, but it does feel swanky in there
I can do swanky, I was expecting something along the lines of Burbank's SMOKEHOUSE restaurant. It was just kind of dull in there, even though there were plenty of people hanging out and enjoying a drink. We stood around a couple of minutes and then - left.

Maybe the restaurant upstairs is nice and worth a reservation but I just wasn't feeling the bar.

The restaurant is definately nicer than the bar.

Could have had some soft jazz playing. Better yet, a man playing the piano.

There's no dress code, but I made it a point to wear slacks and a collared shirt when I made my reservations there. Then again it was my anniversary.

I think this is probably the best route to go. I always prefer to dress for the occasion if I'm able to, but sometimes I'm just a little lazy if it isn't required/expected.

And you can dress to the level you think appropriate for the location.
