What has to happen to make you stay at DCA the whole day!

Even with all the renovations DCA got the last 5 years why is it not a full day park yet, because all I hear is I'm going to DCA in the morning "4 to 5 hours" at least, and spend the rest of the day at disneyland. In my opinion DCA is about 2/3 of a day which leads what can Disney do to make a full day park , why isnt DCA a full day park yet? please share your thoughts!

The fact that when I'm always at DCA there is some kind of construction going on kind of ruins it for me. But besides the fact, it's just not the same as Disneyland, I still really enjoy DCA, but just not nearly as much as I enjoy Disneyland.

I can spend the entire day at DCA. Then again, I'm not the norm, because I love to take Long Disneyland vacations. Like 10 days, or at the least, a week, and yes every day is a Disneyland Day or a DCA Day.

I could stay the whole day there with my friends. When I am solo or with family I head back to Disneyland to catch Fantasmic! because World of Color just doesn't interest me enough to stay. The original version was way better and caught my eye for a few showings. Maybe they could alter WoC in some way that had "Hellfire" and "A Night on Bald Mountain" integrated into the Show again. A shorter PotC is also needed as it doesn't make up for those two parts.

IMO there's still quite a bit of work that's needs to be done before it can really become a full day park. But of course, that's just for me personally.

In order to stay the whole day at DCA, just get in the stand-by line for all Cars Land rides (Mind you, there are only three rides lol).

I just feel like CA Adventure needs more smaller offerings. CA Adventure needs more places to explore; the park doesn't have a Mark Twain, a Tom Sawyer Island, etc. Little things like that make me stay in the park more.

I think another attraction on the Pier and a revamped Hollywoodland and it will feel almost like a full park. The problem is I always feel like I am cheating on Disneyland if I don't make an appearance there. It's like the day is not complete. I don't want to drive an hour in each direction and NOT go to Disneyland. I probably never will.

I find the charm level fine, like the food, like the ambiance and detail of a lot of areas, like walking through the park, all since they updated it - but the problem with DCA for me is simple: there's only one attraction I'd gladly wait 30-45 minutes for there. (It's Tower of Terror).

MuppetVision, I'll wait for, see the whole preshow. Junkyard Jamboree, I'd wait 15 minutes. Screamin', 15-20 minutes. Little Mermaid or Monsters Inc, 10 minutes. Midway Mania not worth the wait for me, nor RSR if it's over half an hour posted. So the trouble is, there's not much there attraction-wise I love besides Tower, regardless of good food, ambiance, and much improved visuals and detail in areas of the park. If I am not compelled to ride the rides, compared to all the ones I'd gladly wait for (Mansion, Pirates, Toad, Space Mountain, Big Thunder) mixed in with quality 'smaller' experiences with less wait times at DL (Lincoln, Snow White, Pinocchio, Casey Jr., the railroad, Mark Twain, etc etc), there's simply less to do, so DCA gets boring in terms of actually doing things not involving eating or soaking up ambiance (both of which are of course worthwhile).
when the spooks have a midnight jamboree....

Re: What has to happen to make you stay at DCA the whole day!

There were only two times that I spent the whole day at DCA.

First time, Febuary 11th, 2001! Three days after DCA officially opened and there were no park hoppers at the time. I got there around 11 a.m. and I left around 11:30 p.m., but I was basically done with everything by 3 p.m. I only stayed because I paid for a full day ticket and I ASSUMED I would need the whole day to see as much as possible. The place was so bland and dead, I remember walking through parts of HPB and Golden State area and you can throw a rock and wouldnt hit anyone. No night time shows (pre-MSEP and everything else). I watched the fireworks from the crappy entrance so envious of people at DL! Everything was a 5-10 minut wait and it was about 5 things worth doing. I rode CS 7 times straight in 30 minutes, 3 days after the park opened. Yeah...

Second time, June 15th, 2012! Thats right opening day of 2.0 with a good friend and Disney fan (and part time MCer as well). We actually wanted to see if we could do DCA all day without A. Getting bored and B. Not longing to go to DL (and we were going the next day anyway) and I have to say DCA proved to be a full day experience! Yes, the lines were long in places, but outside of CL, which we didnt even do until later that night and RSR was the final attraction of the night, everything wasnt that bad and FP is a godsend. Anyway, because there were SO many new first it was quite easy to do. We did all the new shows, saw the parade, explored BVS and CL, hit WOC, ate at CCT for lunch, did Mad T Party, quite a bit of drinking lol, all the main rides (about 9 total), grabbed dinner at Paradise Gardens, got some ice cream at Ghirardellis and I actually did my very FIRST Factory tour! We entered DCA around 9:10 a.m. and we offiically left around 12:15 a.m. And UNLIKE the first visit we were never bored and we didnt miss DL because we were too busy lol. So yeah, that was our little experiment to see if it can be done now and honestly it can!

I really learned to appreciate the park the past few years and so many of the new things like BVS, CCT, WOC, RCT, CL, the dance parties, etc has really given it a new leash on life. DCA is just a great place to hang out in now. I love just sitting on BVS, grab a coffee and people watch while watching the trolly go up and down. It really is that same feeling I get on MS. And at night DCA is just FUN!! WOC, Mad T Party, checking out the neon in CL, riding TOT, RSR, CS, etc is just a good time when the sun goes down.

Now doesnt mean I necessarily WOULD stay all day in DCA or even want to, but can I, yeah now I can easily! DCA is just a fun place for me now and I probably spend 50/50 between both parks when I do go. Its just such a different place than the Feb 2001 visit when I went that I thought DCA would be a half day park for the next 20 years like KBF or USH. Glad I was wrong on that!

A new parade, Actual morning and afternoon shows, more trees (really more people would stay), more dark rides, and evening blow out (WOC does not cut it)

DCA needs an audio animatronics extravaganza along the lines of Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion. Also, (I highly doubt that this will ever happen) I wouldn't mind seeing the Country Bears coming out of west coast hibernation.

I think that if Disneyland was not next door, a lot of people would have no trouble spending a full day at DCA. But with Disneyland right across the way...that's hard to pass up.
